Arab and Chaldean Festival at Hart Plaza in Detroit

This 48th annual Arab and Chaldean Festival hits downtown Detroit, July 27-28, 2019, with two days of cultural fun that includes music, food, fashion and more.

Are you looking for a festival that will help your child embrace their Middle Eastern heritage – or perhaps a celebration that will introduce your kids to someone else’s culture? Then head to Hart Plaza in Detroit July 27-28, 2019, for the Arab and Chaldean Festival.

This fest, which boasts as the largest Arab and Chaldean Festival in North America, attracts thousands of people from across the metro Detroit area each year and is sure to immerse families of all different ethnicities in Middle Eastern culture through food, music, and of course, family fun.

The 48th installment kicks off this year with musical performances by well-known artists in the Middle Eastern community and traditional dance performances. It will also features an art gallery, which includes engaging exhibits about the “History of Arab Medicine,” “Folklore Customs” and “Arab Calligraphy,” among others.

Another huge draw to this fest is the Hanna (you may know it as Henna) tattoo artist who will be on site and applying magnificent pieces of cultural body art on those who stop by.

There will also be plenty of Middle Eastern delicacies to try, so if you ever wanted to taste falafel or tabbouleh, now is your chance.

The festival culminates in a fashion show at 7:15 p.m. on Sunday. Be sure to stop by to explore all of the hottest trends in the Arab and Chaldean community.

The Detroit Arab and Chaldean festival runs from noon-midnight, July 27-28, 2019 at Hart Plaza, and is totally free to attend.
