DIY Gift Tags to Craft This Season

After a gift has been selected and purchased for the holidays and wrapped in festive papers, the additional touches (bows, stickers, ribbons) make wonderful touches that the recipient will be so excited to open up. Among those little touches to consider are gift tags. Yes, they serve an important purpose to make sure the right gift makes it to the right house, but they can add a touch of design and personalization that can make a big difference.

If your family enjoys adding personal touches to their gifts, try working on gift tags together. I reached out to the team at Stampin’ Up to see what kind of gift tag options they had in their catalog this year and I’m pleased to report there are many. Take at a few different ways you can have fun creating the finishing touches on this year’s gift tag.

Where to Begin

You’ll need a blank tag, of course! You can make one yourself with handy paper punches like this, or you can buy a readymade option, in a variety of sizes and colors. It’s all up to you!

Cute Tags

The Cookie Cutter gang is one of my favorite stamp characters available from Stampin’ Up. They’re just so fun and friendly, as you may remember from this Halloween project idea. For Christmas and the holiday season, the kids are back dressed as Santa, an eskimo, a gingerbread man, a reindeer, and even a bear. Color them in, punch them out, and add to a gift tag with a message of cheer.

Simple Tags

Put scraps of paper to work with a collection of fun paper punch shapes, like an iconic bell. Add 3D adhesive foam squares to your punched shape to give the tag added dimension.

Sweet Treat Tags

When it’s time to deliver a batch of homemade cookies that the entire family taste tested, make your own gift tags that have a “sweet” angle to them. The Candy Cane Christmas set not only offers three delicious messages, there are also some Christmas candy shapes that are perfect for using no matter the gift.

Tons of Tags, No Matter the Need

Gear up for the holiday season by enjoying an afternoon of crafting with your young makers thanks to the Tin of Tags.

Inside this project kit you’ll find an assortment of watercolor-brushed gift tags that, when paired with the coordinating stamp set, create 30 tags.

A large, full-color instruction guide easily walks you through the assembly process of each tag.

The tags offer a variety of paper crafting techniques, from adding washi tape to a design to stamped layers and even working with laser-cut decorations. The tags are small but pack a huge decor punch.
