Downtown Plymouth Independence Day Activities

The city of Plymouth is celebrating our nation's birthday AND its sesquicentennial. Join in a parade and more family fun. It all happens June 29-July 4, 2017.

Are you looking to get hyped for our nation’s birthday with plenty of daytime family fun? Plymouth has you covered with some hot historical events in the downtown area on July 4, 2017 – and the week leading up to it.

This year is cause for extra celebration, as the city celebrates its 150th anniversary. Kick it off with some fitting fanfare on Thursday, June 29, with a concert by the Plymouth Community Band. The fun continues at screenings of Night at the Museum on Friday June 30 and Saturday July 1 at 7 and 9:05 p.m. – and Yankee Doodle Dandy plays Sunday July 2 at 4:15 and 7 p.m., all at the Penn Theatre.

On July 1 at Kellogg Park, you can also enjoy an evening concert with Michigan Philharmonic. And on Monday July 3, catch an outdoor screening of The Secret Life of Pets.

The actual Fourth of July celebration kicks off at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, July 4 with a procession of Uncle Sams, Lady Liberties and other good ol’ American characters. Line up on Main Street to see them march by.

After the parade, at 10 a.m., make your way back to Kellogg Park to celebrate even more at Plymouth’s 150th Celebration Ice Cream Social. This event marks the end of the weekend-long celebration of the city’s history with delicious dairy treats.

Best of all, apart from a nominal fee of $3 for the Night at the Museum shows, all of these events are free of charge.
