Are you looking for a fun way to get some exercise? Biking is a great way to keep healthy, and it’s on quite the roll in metro Detroit.
Whether you are just starting out and figuring out your community’s bike lanes, or are a more experienced rider who likes to navigate back wood biking trails, there are plenty of upcoming bike races, rodeos, rides and other family bike events in metro Detroit for any level of biker.

May 1 -Sept. 25, 2021 (Saturdays)
- Address: Hines Park from Outer Drive to Ann Arbor Trail
A six-mile stretch of Hines Drive is closed to traffic every Saturday this summer for walkers, skaters and bike riders to enjoy.
June 1-30, 2021

June 13, 2021
- Address: Brighton Recreation Area, 7050 Bishop Lake Road, Brighton
This free event takes kids on the two-mile beginner Appleton Lake Loop Trail. Guided trail rides, free bicycle, helmet checks and food will be available. There will also be a bike course and more trails for advanced riders. Registration required.
Aug. 14, 2021
- Address: 2525 Joslyn Road, Lake Orion
This family bike ride takes place through the woods and past the lakes in Orion Township. Routes range from 1.75 to 11 miles long. There will be bike fitting, checkups and lunch for the riders.
Sept. 18, 2021
- Address: Roosevelt Park, 2405 Vernor Highway, Detroit
The 20-mile ride begins in front of Michigan Central Station. After the ride, there will be food, drinks and music in the park. Helmets are mandatory for all riders. Registration required.
Oct. 2, 2021

This 7th annual event helps raise money for charities and causes.
