Family Neighborhood Guide: Harrison Township

This Macomb County boat town offers great eats and tons of family fun on or by the water.

If one thing is for sure, it’s that Harrison Township offers so many great restaurants for you and your family to try. Whether you’re in the mood for American, Italian or even some really great seafood, you’ll find a spot to enjoy.

Since this city is right on the northwestern shore of Lake St. Clair, there are also plenty of great water trails and activities to experience while you’re there.

EAT

Bumper’s Landing

Stop by this well-known sports and tiki bar, which is located right on the water. The kids meal options include chicken tenders, fish biters, grilled cheese, pizza, hot dog, taco and sliders.

Eddie’s Drive-In

Families can enjoy this ’50s-style restaurant with old-fashioned food and roller-skating carhops to take your order. The kids meals include chicken nuggets, hot dog, corn dog, junior burger and a pizza slice. All kids meals come with a pop and a treat.

Frosty Boy of Harrison Township

This iconic ice cream shop is a town staple. Some menu favorites include different flavored dole whips, sundaes, frost bites, shakes and hand-dipped ice cream. Order pies and cakes for your next family gathering. Bring your doggies by for Tail Wagger Wednesdays for $1 pup cups.

Harrison’s Speakeasy

This eclectic spot offers dining indoors and outdoors. On the patio, they offer comfortable seating and lawn games to play while you wait for your food. The kids meal options include dyno nuggets, cheeseburger slides, buttered noodles and mac and cheese. All kids meals are served with a cup of applesauce or fresh fruit.

Lori’s Lick’em Up Ice Cream

This local ice cream shop features Ashby’s hand-dipped ice cream, more than 24 soft-serve ice cream, dole whip and no sugar added flavors of the week and the 5-pound banana split!

Sandbar

This sports bar and grill specializes in pizzas and burgers. They also offer a Sunday brunch. For little ones, they have on the menu grilled cheese, mac and cheese, chicken strips, ¼-pound burger, buttered noodles and a cheese quesadilla.

Lake St. Clair Metropark Nature Center

This nature center features live animals as well as wetlands and waterfowl displays. Hit the hiking trails after.

Selfridge Military Air Museum

This museum is located on a secure military installation. To enter, all individuals without a U.S. Government ID card, Common Access Card or Defense Biometric Identification System card are required to have a mandatory security background check performed for their Visitor’s Pass before entering. The Air Park has authentic military aircraft from the U.S. Air Force, U.S. Army, U.S. Coast Guard, U.S. Marines and U.S. Navy. Special tours can be arranged for groups of 10 or more.

PLAY

Harrison Waterfront Park

This park is located right on Lake St. Clair. It has two play structures – one for older kids and one for younger kids. There’s also a basketball hoop, two volleyball courts, a pavilion, restrooms and a boardwalk to fish from.

Lake St. Clair Metropark

This Huron-Clinton Metropark offers adventure golf, a beach, boating, fishing, basketball, swimming, tennis, a playground, pickleball, volleyball, a splash pad, concessions and so much more.

Simple Adventures

This spot offers bicycle, kayak, canoe and standup paddleboard rentals as well as novelty ice cream, inflatables, pool and beach side accessories, grill essentials and snacks and drinks.

Total Sports & Entertainment

This entertainment center has bowling, billiards, darts, ax throwing, cornhole, court sports, arcade, laser tag and more. It offers open bowling seven days a week. Ax throwing is for adults only.
