Family Neighborhood Guide: Shelby Township

Looking for a new city to spend the day? Bring your family to this Macomb County town for some kid-friendly fun.

From amazing food to plenty of indoor play centers and unique shops, Shelby Township is a fun place to visit with your kids. It also has plenty of outdoor fun at nature centers and parks throughout the city.

Here are some suggestions for you to check out while you are there.

Art & Jakes Sports Bar Shelby 23

It offers a unique blend of a sports bar and a restaurant. The kids menu features cheese pizza, buttered noodles, chicken salad, burger, mac n’ cheese, alfredo, spaghetti, chicken dinner, tenders and mini corn dogs – so your kids are bound to love something.

Just Love Coffee Café

This coffee shop features an extensive breakfast, lunch and dinner menu. For kids, its has waffles, quesadillas, PB&J and more. Stop by for a coffee, tea, cold brew, latte or espresso while you’re on the go.

Lula’s Café

This café is known for its breakfast and brunch items, including smoothies, bowls, salads, wraps and coffee drinks.

Sherwood Brewing Company

This family-friendly brewery features live music, fun events and fantastic food and drinks. Ages 12 and under can order off the kids menu, which includes a hamburger, chicken strips, grilled chicken dunkers, mac and cheese or a small pizza. The menu has local beers and Detroit City Soda to drink.

Burgess-Shadbush Nature Center

Check out the modern nature center and the pioneer-era cabin, which host events throughout the year. Visit with snakes, turtles, bunnies, lizards and other fun animals while you’re there. 

Stony Creek Metropark

There’s so much to do at Stony Creek. They have plenty of great paved and unpaved trails for hiking, cycling, skating, running and walking. At the heart of the park sits the 500-acre lake, where visitors can fish, swim and boat. It also features nature center and golf course.

Stop in for an in-studio event, private party, pop in and paint event or to pick up an at-home paint kit. 

Pump It Up

This children’s amusement center features giant inflatables for kids (and parents too). They have toddler times and open jumps. 

Shelby Lanes

This bowling alley features open bowling, leagues and specials for kids. They also have a snack bar, sports bar, pro shop and arcade. 

Sky Zone Trampoline Park 

Find the SkySlam basketball dunk court, 3-D Dodgeball, SkyRobics fitness classes, Toddler Time and open jump at this indoor trampoline park. 

The New Rink

With a bounce zone for children 12 and under as well as roller hockey, this spot is perfect for the kids. Stop in for public skating sessions.
