Paint the town green with these family-friendly St. Patty’s Day activities.

St. Patrick’s Day is coming up on Sunday, March 17, 2024. If the luck of the Irish is on your side, your family will get the chance to experience at least one of these St. Patrick’s Day events this month in metro Detroit.

These family-friendly events give families a fun way to celebrate the patron saint of Ireland, along with shamrocks and all things green.

St. Patrick’s Day Events at Harrison Township Public Library

March 6, 7 and 15, 2024

Make Your Own Leprechaun Traps (March 6): Families can drop into the library to create their own Leprechaun Trap. All craft supplies, boxes and decorations will be provided.

Teen Take & Make Craft: Shamrock Bracelets (March 15): Teens can drop in at the Harrison Township Public Library to grab a shamrock bracelet-making kit. Available while supplies last.

St. Patrick’s Day Events at Mount Clemens Public Library

March 16, 2024

St. Patrick’s Day DIY Candle Making (March 16): All ages can join Mount Clemens Public Library to create a St. Patrick’s Day candle. 

St. Patrick’s Day Family Storytime with Special Guest! (March 16): All ages can enjoy a St. Patrick’s Day storytime with local author Deb Kaiser as she reads her book Late for St. Paddy’s Day.

Cultural Arts Concert Series: Blackthorn at Farmington Hills Community Center – The Hawk

Irish music sensation Blackthorn takes the stage for a musical experience that captures the history and legend of Ireland and its people. Regularly featured at world renowned Irish festivals and venues, the Detroit-based band joins us for a night of Irish music just in time for St. Patrick’s Day!  

Pop-Up Leprechaun Craft at Royal Oak Public Library

All ages can join Royal Oak Public Library in the Makerspace for a pop-up leprechaun craft for St. Patrick’s Day. Materials will be provided.

March 16, 2024

Enjoy a kid-friendly St. Patrick’s Day celebration with free bounce houses, Irish dancers, magic shows and more. Find 10 gold coins throughout the village to turn in for a prize. 

Royal Oak St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Downtown Royal Oak

Wear and decorate your wagons and bicycles in everything green and take part in a family-filled celebration of Irish tradition. This St. Patrick’s Day parade begins at Royal Oak Middle Schoo, travels south on Washington Ave., then westbound on West 7th St.

Irish Fairy Tales at Clarkston Independence District Library

Ages 5-10 can come out to Clarkston Independence District Library to hear about and celebrate the Irish culture of music, dance and stories with Miss Jadelyn.

St. Patrick’s Day Events in Washtenaw County

Shamrocks & Shenanigans 5K & Kids K at Conor O’Neills

March 10, 2024

Families can run or walk a 5K or Kids Kilometer race. All proceeds from this event go to Save a Heart. After the race, there will be live music, Irish Dancers, bagpipers, face painting, food and drinks. 

Leprechaun Mask Making & Parade at Kerrytown Market and Shops

March 17, 2024

Wear green and head to Kerrytown Market and Shops to make a Leprechaun Mask. Materials will be provided for the craft. Parade to follow.

Stories, Snacks, & Crafts! – St. Patty’s Party at Greenmead Historical Park

March 8, 2024

Enjoy St. Patrick’s Day-themed crafts, stories and snacks in the Alexander Blue House. For ages 4-10. Registration is required.

St. Patrick’s Day Kids Slime Workshop at JoJo’s ShakeBAR

In partnership with Mad Science Detroit, JoJo’s ShakeBar Detroit will show kids how to make their own St. Paddy’s Day slime. Advanced tickets required.

Bring your family out to the best viewing area of the Detroit St. Patrick’s Day Parade. There will be Irish Step Dancing lessons, Irish entertainment, inflatables, donuts and coffee. Guests can also enjoy a heated grandstand view of the parade and private restrooms.
