St. Patrick’s Day Events in Metro Detroit and Ann Arbor

Prepare for an Irish-themed takeover this March as metro Detroit and Ann Arbor gear up for St. Paddy's Day 2022 at these St. Patrick's Day events.

St. Patrick’s Day is coming up on Thursday, March 17, 2022. If the luck of the Irish is on your side, your family will get the chance to experience at least one of these great in-person and virtual St. Patrick’s Day events in metro Detroit and Ann Arbor.

These family-friendly events give adults and kids a fun way to celebrate the patron saint of Ireland — along with shamrocks and all things green.

Several days in March 2022 are packed with family-friendly St. Paddy’s Day fun. So, dust off your green stockings, turn on your Irish pride and head out to one of these fantastic events.

Note: Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, many events are enforcing face mask and social distancing protocols. Check ahead on the rules before heading out.

St. Patrick’s Day Craft Kit at Troy Public Library

March 1-17, 2022

  • Address: Troy Public Library, 510 W. Big Beaver Road, Troy
  • Time: 9:30 a.m.-9 p.m. Monday-Thursday, 9:30 a.m.-5 p.m. Friday-Saturday and 1-5 p.m. Sunday
  • Cost: Free

Bring your kids to the Youth Department at Troy Public Library for a St. Patrick’s Day craft, while supplies last! Kits are great for ages 3-plus.

St. Patrick’s Day Scavenger Hunt at Royal Oak Public Library in Royal Oak

March 1-31, 2022

  • Address: Royal Oak Public Library, 222 E. 11 Mile Road, Royal Oak
  • Time: 9 a.m.-8 p.m. Mondays-Thursdays, 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Fridays-Saturdays and 1-5 p.m. Sundays
  • Cost: Free

Kids will enjoy searching the lower level of the library for pots of gold. Make sure to fill in the letters on your clue sheet and then, once you have the answer, go to the Youth Services Desk for a prize!

Fish Fry’s at Old St. Pat’s of Ann Arbor

March 4-April 8, 2022

This year is Old St. Pat’s 44th Annual Lenten Friday Fish Fry. Inside dining and take-out are planned and will include Alaskan Pollack, choice of potato or mac and cheese, salad bar, beverage and dessert (extra cost).

Cultural Arts Concert Series: Blackthorn

March 5, 2022

Irish music sensation, Blackthorn, takes the stage for a musical experience that captures the history and legend of Ireland and its people. Regularly featured at world renowned Irish festivals and venues, the Detroit-based band, joins us for a night of Irish music just in time for St. Patrick’s Day! 

Teen Take and Make: Pot of Gold Craft at Roseville Public Library

March 9, 2022

Teens can come to the library to paint a flowerpot and fill it with Rolo candy to create your own decorative “lucky pot of gold.” This event is for teens in grades 7 to 12. Registration is required and participants must have a valid Roseville library card to register.

Take & Make Craft Theme: St. Paddy’s Day! at Harrison Township Public Library

Make and take St. Patrick’s Day-themed craft kits are available for first come, first served. They’re located in the children’s section.

Annual St. Patrick’s Day Story Time at Pontiac Public Library

March 12, 2022

Join the library for their annual St. Paddy’s Day Story Time with music, leprechauns, pots of gold and more. You may even spot a leprechaun! Registration required.  

“Go Green” for St. Patrick’s Day at the Sterling Heights Nature Center

March 12, 2022

There will be fun “green” games, an outdoor leprechaun maze and other activities and crafts for the whole fam. Crafts are available while supplies last. 

Leprechaun Days at Canterbury Village in Lake Orion

March 12-13, 2022

The leprechauns have scattered coins all around the village! Children will roam throughout the village collecting the hidden coins and taking them to the shops where they can exchange the coins for prizes and goodies. Advanced registration required.

St. Patrick’s Parade in Corktown, Detroit

The D welcomes back this 64th annual, which comes with a procession filled with leprechauns, shamrock floats and other Irish swag.

The Detroit St. Patrick’s Day Parade Private Family Fun Zone

March 13, 2022

Bring your family out to the best viewing area of the Detroit St. Patrick’s Day Parade. There will be Irish Step Dancing lessons, Irish entertainment, inflatables, donuts and coffee. Also, heated grandstand view of the parade and private restrooms.

Pinckney St. Patrick’s Day Parade and Festivities along Main Street in Pinckney

This annual event features a kid’s costume contest, a pet’s costume contest, Irish music bagpipes and Irish dancing. The parade will start west of town (near People’s Church) and move East towards the square.
