Last week, we showed you some of the new pieces from the Martha Stewart Jewelry collection. From making custom pieces of jewelry with beautiful charms to painting a fun pendant, the collection is great for creating unique, personalized gifts. If your child is ready to start making graduation gifts, or you’re looking for a gift to give to a graduate that she can’t find at her local accessory store, take a look at this week’s Make It blog for ideas of some of the ways the jewelry pieces can be utilized.
If you’re not so sure about making jewelry yourself, try adding a pendant to a store-bought silver chain. (Just make sure the chain can slide through the holes on the back of the pendant.) |

This leaf charm was added to one of the collection’s ring blanks with a drop of epoxy. Cut off the stem, or bend back, before adding to the ring. |
|
Many of the charms look great without paint, like the anchor. We glued one to an unpainted wooden disc and added a pinback behind it to create a tie tack and/or lapel pin. |

For the student who is passionate about her high school or soon-to-be college, try painting some of the enamel blanks with her school’s colors. Depending on the school’s mascot, you might even be able to find that represented in the collection, too. |

I made a charm bracelet (great for telling a friend’s story) by cutting a piece of chain and adding a jump ring and lobster claw on one end. |

Each charm was added the chain with a jump ring – use the round – and flat-nose pliers for this task. |
