Metro Detroit has so many great pizza places for families. These spots are great if you’re heading to downtown Detroit for a concert, show or game. They’re also great if you’re just out and about in metro Detroit and you need something yummy and quick to grab.

A lot of these places have unique flavors if you’re feeling a bit adventurous or you can create your own pizza if you’re not.

Brass Rail Pizza Bar

If you’re heading downtown Detroit for a concert, show or sports game, check out Brass Rail for lunch or dinner. It is only a short walk away from the theaters and sports arenas. Try a “red pizza” or “white pizza” or build your own pizza.

Buddy’s Pizza

  • Addresses: Multiple locations in metro Detroit

Opened in 1946, it is the birthplace of Detroit-style pizza. The menu depends on location and also if they are a “full-service” or “carry-out only” location. Most offer Original Detroit-Style Pizza, classic pastas, sandwiches, burgers, soups, salads and starters.


Find plenty of amazing pizza options like The Roni, Dill Pickle Pizza, The Wimp, The Baller, Jessy’s Girl and more. You can also choose to create your own pizza with either standard or premium toppings. It also offers vegan pizzas, served with gluten-free dough and vegan cheese.


  • Address: Locations in Berkley, Clarkston, Royal Oak, Troy and West Bloomfield

This spot is an authentic Italian pizzeria that offers gourmet flavors like Prosciutto, Shrimp & Chorizo, Wild Mushroom, Pepperoni Margherita and Mediterranean. You can also build your own pizza with traditional or gourmet toppings.

Jet’s Pizza

  • Addresses:  Multiple locations in metro Detroit

This pizza chain was founded in 1978 in Sterling Heights and has since expanded to 22 other states. It offers its famous Detroit-style pizza, thin crust, hand-tossed round and New York-style pizza along with the amazing Jets bread, wings, salads and desserts. It also has one of the best ranch dressings around and can be purchased by the bottle.

Jolly Pumpkin Pizzeria and Brewery

  • Addresses: Locations in Ann Arbor, Detroit, Dexter and Royal Oak

The pizzas here are hand-stretched and the flavors vary by location so make sure you check ahead. Some of the uniquely flavored pizzas are South Pacific, Truffled Mushroom, Popeye, Lamb Kafta and more.

Little Caesars

  • Addresses: Multiple locations in metro Detroit

This global pizza chain first began in 1959 in Garden City in Wayne County. It opened its first franchise in 1962 in Warren in Macomb County. It has since opened stores in all 50 states and 18 international markets. It is best known for its $5 Hot-N-Ready (now $5.55). It offers Detroit-style deep dish pizzas, pretzel crust with cheese sauce, calzones and brownies.

Mootz Pizzeria + Bar

This restaurant offers New York-style pizza in flavors called Holy Cheesus, Nuts & Bolts, Beast of Burden, Bee Sting, Uptown & The Bronx, Popeye, Juliet, Hot Italian, Margherita, Mediterranean, Buffalo Chicken, Danni The Bambino, Spicy Hawaiian, Fungi, Angelo’s Tomato Pie, Meatza, Hawaiian or you can build your own pizza. Pie Sci Pizza

This pizza place has time-honored flavors as well as bold and inventive pizza for you to try. The menu is broken up by “primary,” “secondary,” “collegiate” and “graduate.” The higher you go in your “schooling,” the more adventurous the pizzas are. If you’re not feeling any of the options, build your own. It also offers brunch on Sundays from 11 a.m.-3 p.m.

This well-known favorite offers deep-dish, thin crust and Detroit-style pizzas. The specialty pizzas come in unique options like bacon cheeseburger, seafood combo, gourmet and V.I.P. The thin-crust options are chicken bacon ranch, BBQ Bianca and Hawaiian. Probably the most popular here is the deep dish in flavors called 313, Greektown, BBQ Bianca, Ultimate Pepperoni or build your own. Pair it with some boneless wings, breadsticks or salad.

Sam’s Sorrento Pizza

  • Addresses: Locations in Clinton Township, Macomb Township, Mount Clemens, Pontiac, Shelby Township, St. Clair Shores, Utica and Washington Township

This pizza place is only in southeastern Michigan. It always has deals if you’re looking to get multiple items including pizza, wings, bread, salad, subs, pasta and pop. Participating locations even have a “Coney” pizza with chili, hot dogs, mozzarella, cheddar cheese, fresh onions and mustard.
