Little Women at Wild Swan Theater in Ann Arbor

Beloved classic Little Women pops off the page and onto the stage – with the help of the Wild Swan Theater! This family stage show plays in Ann Arbor Dec. 8-9, 2011.

The popular novel by Louisa May Alcott tells the story of the March sisters – Jo, Meg, Amy and Beth – who are growing up in Civil War-era in New England. When their mother is called away to help their sick father, the girls learn how to face their changing lives together.

Now, watch the personalities of these unique little women who've warmed the hearts of readers since the 1900s – live! Filled with love, loss, hope and self-discovery, the play is just in time for the holidays, celebrating family and the special relationship between a mother and her daughters.

Wild Swan's Little Women focuses on part one of the novel, with most of the production taken directly from the text. Special to the performance is the historical music and singing that's woven throughout the script. Although the play was never written as a musical, music was an important foundation to the March family – and co-artistic director Hilary Cohen found it key to incorporate music of the era into this particular production.

Wild Swan Theater prides itself on being an accessible theater to everyone, including those with disabilities. Two American Sign Language interpreters have been zoned directly into the blocking of the performance, becoming a part of the March family. Other options for those with visual or mobility impairments are offered to make a place at the theater for everyone.

Performances take place in the Towsley Auditorium at Washtenaw Community College. Show times are 10 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. on Dec. 8 and 9 – as well as 2 p.m. Dec. 10-11. Tickets are $8 for kids and seniors (ages 60+) and $12 for adults. Lap passes are available for $3 for children 2 and under.

Seat are assigned and pulled on a first-serve basis, so get your tickets early for better seating! Tickets are also available 30 minutes before curtain, depending on availability.
