Lyon Township Kite Festival Extravaganza

Who knew kites could provide four full days of family fun? Come see them fly – and lots more! – July 17-20, 2014 at the Lyon Township Kite Festival Extravaganza at James F. Atchison Memorial Park.

Bring your family to this sixth annual event for weekend-long fun – this year, extended to include three extra days. That's right: The kite fest has merged with Lyon Township's summer carnival to now offer rides, more food options and, of course, extra kites!

Featuring activities for people of all ages, this shebang features the Your Hometown Idol Talent Competition, a variety of arts and crafts booths and a midway consisting of 25 rides, games and food concessions. Kids also get free kites to decorate and fly on Saturday.

Other highlights include live entertainment daily, a petting zoo, toddler bounces, fast-action motor sports and a hot air balloon evening – glow followed by a laser light show you won't want to miss.

Join in all the fun July 17-20, 2014. Times are as follows:

  • Thursday: 1 p.m.-10 p.m.
  • Friday: 4-10 p.m.
  • Saturday: 9 a.m.-10 p.m.
  • Sunday: 1 p.m.-5:30 p.m.

Midway carnival wristbands can be purchased for $15 up through July 16, and $20 at the event.
