Make Prize Ribbon Crafts with Rosette Art by Chronicle Books

Being presented with an award ribbon is a great feeling, no matter how old you are. Whether it’s the best project at the science fair or a first-place finish in the soccer tournament, a special prize like this from your children is something to keep and cherish for years to come. Graphic designer Cathe Holden recently authored Rosette Art: Instructions and Papers for Beautiful Rosettes to Share, Wear and Display as a tribute to the art of the prize ribbon. It’s a book to have on hand for those in charge of team awards or anyone interested in paper crafting!

Holden’s book starts out with how she fell in love with the prize ribbon (a chance spotting during a visit to New York) – and a simple overview of what a paper rosette is usually constructed of. The instruction book gives recommendations for best material selections, key tools to have on hand, and even the best adornments to add to your almost-finished rosette.
The how-to rosette book is more than just a series of how-to projects – though there are 14 projects to choose from. The book also comes with 20 sheets of craft-worthy paper (some scored, some not) for easy rosette making. From the basics to more experimental ideas, the book walks you through a variety of paper crafting ideas to celebrate your child.
Spending time with the book, I was hooked. I made these rosettes right away and tried both a paper- and ribbon-themed approach; both were very easy to make.
