Make Your Own Birthday Reminder

For our family this summer has been PACKED with birthdays thanks to a new niece and nephew. We’re also celebrating milestone birthdays for some family members and first birthdays for others. It seems like every weekend there’s another party to go to! With all these birthdays it can sometimes be overwhelming to make sure you’ve got the correct date written down, have a card to go with the gift, etc. That’s why I was so excited to see two don’t-forget-the-birthdays DIY products from Stampin’ Up! that your children can help you create: the Perpetual Birthday Calendar Kit and Tin of Cards Kit.

Have you ever made a perpetual birthday calendar before? They’re so handy. Many crafters offer blank calendars you can personalize, but this Stampin’ Up! kit allows you to make the project one of a kind.

The calendar kit includes lined pages to turn into calendar pages, an assortment of decorating accessories, a piece of chipboard to give the calendar body and a golden clip to hold it all together.

The personalization of the pages is up to you, but Stampin’ Up! does give you a few idea starters to get you going. You can stamp, doodle or add stickers to the top of the page; there are a handful of paper bits in the kit to add to the page. I used a stamp dauber and a favorite ink pad to create a smudged effect on the top of this calendar page for August.

Alphabet stickers are included in the kit so that you can label each month and start adding your birthday names.

The Tin of Cards Kit comes with not only everything you need to create a stash of cards to prepare you for all sorts of celebrations, it also has DIY dividers you assemble to make the tin a valuable library of greetings.

Just like the calendar kit, this offering comes with a booklet of card decorating ideas to get you going.

Stampin’ Up! gives you pre-cut pieces to quickly assemble and personalize the greeting cards so that each one is one-of-a-kind creation you and your family made together.

Once your cards have all been made, you can decorate the sturdy tin dividers and fill your tin with the handmade cards you can now use at a moment’s notice.

To decorate all of these products you can use your favorite DIY products, but Stampin’ Up! does offer a coordinating stamp set that’s perfect for adding a finishing touch to each and every card and calendar page you make.

When it comes to getting ready for a season full of birthdays, what are some of your favorite DIY tips and tricks for staying ahead of the party game? Let us know!
