May Fairs and Festivals in Metro Detroit and Ann Arbor

Spring is here, meaning the outdoor fun season in Macomb, Oakland, Washtenaw and Wayne counties is starting. Find out about May 2022 fairs and festivals here.

Spring is here, and that means the 2022 fair and festival season is powering up.

This May, you’ll find oodles of these events all over southeast Michigan — including St. Florian Parish Strawberry Festival and the Movement Electronic Music Festival — to get your bunch off the couch and out and about.

From eco-friendly fests, to cultural fairs, re-enactments and more, there’s something for everyone this spring.

So, grab a light jacket and head outdoors to one of these spring festivals right in your backyard.

Fiesta Detroit: Annual Cinco de Mayo Festival

May 1, 2022

  • Address: Mexicantown area, 4132 Bagley St., Detroit
  • Cost: $10/general admission, $75/VIP ticket (not including online fees)

Celebrate Cinco de Mayo at this fest, which features food, vendors, Latin music, arts, live performances, bull riding and more.

St. Pat’s Irish Festival

May 1, 2022

This festival features some of Detroit’s finest singers, players and dancers on three stages. There will be food, drinks, raffles and more.

Downtown Mount Clemens Made in Michigan Show

May 6-7, 2022

This fair showcases all things made in Michigan. See vendors, live entertainment on the fountain stage, a kid’s business fair in Cherry Street Mall and more.

Annual Spring Vintage, Repurposed & Handmade Market

May 7, 2022

This annual market will feature 100 businesses selling vintage items, handmade signs, furniture, wood decor, boutique clothing, jewelry, personalized items and more.

Kids Business Fair & Made In Michigan Vendor Show

May 7, 2022

This event is a great opportunity for kids ages 10–17 to experience entrepreneurship in a one-day showcase. The fair takes place outdoors and during the Made in Michigan Show in Downtown Mount Clemens.

Art Birmingham

May 7-8, 2022

See the work of some 150 juried artists at this 41st annual event, which takes place on the street in downtown Birmingham.

Heron Festival 

May 7, 2022

Visit the site of a Great-Blue Heron nest. Guided hikes, activities and educational stations, too.

St. Florian Parish Strawberry Festival

May 7-8, 2022

Get your fill of Polish food, music and plenty of strawberries. There will also be a raffle drawing and prizes for kids, too.

Water Lantern Festival

May 7, 2022

Enjoy music, food trucks and the incredible sight of thousands of floating lanterns.

Berkley Days

May 12-15, 2022

This annual offers midway rides, games, fair food and more. There will also be entertainment in the beer tent, trivia night and robotics. Also, 5K and 10K races.

Spring Fling

May 14, 2022

This annual event features live animals at a petting zoo outside the Fraser Public Library. Other family-friendly activities, too.

Tech N9ne’s Asin9ne Tour 2022

May 14, 2022

This music festival will feature Tech N9ne with special guests Joey Cool, X-Raided and ¡Mayday!. VIP tickets and meet and greet available, too.

Celebrate Birmingham Hometown Parade and Party in Shain Park

May 15, 2022

The parade is a 40-year-old tradition that takes place in Birmingham. There will be a party in Shain Park afterwards.

Lake Orion Flower & Art Fair 

May 20-22, 2022

Vendors will be outdoors selling flowers, plants and art. There will also be food trucks, plenty of vendors and crafters to shop at and more.

Spring Palooza

May 20, 2022

This annual features live entertainment, police and fire demonstrations, outdoor games, food and lots of family bonding.

Highland Founders Day Celebration 

May 21, 2022

This annual offering has a parade and more family fun. See floats, bands, teams, community groups and more.

Nature Fest

May 21, 2022

This nature-oriented event will feature live entertainment, nature crafts and games, live animals and canoeing. Ages 17 and younger can participate in a fishing contest. Fishing poles and bait are limited, so bring your own if you have one. No registration required.

Romeo MayFest 2022 

May 21, 2022

This annual fest will feature live music, a car show with new and classic cars, local food trucks, corn hole tourney, 50/50 raffles, local vendors and crafters and more. There will also be a kid’s area that will have carnival games, bounce houses, obstacle course, petting zoo, face painting, magician and more.

Technology Fair 

May 21, 2022

Local schools and technology groups from around Southeast Michigan will showcase their technology talent with drones, robots, 3-D printing and much more. There will be demonstrations and classes for kids and teens ages 5-17. No registration is required.

Ferndale Wellness Fair

May 28, 2022

There will be an on-site food truck with vegan tacos, sodas, coffee and other handmade items. Take a Yoga or Tai Chi class or get a massage and facial. Free book exchange, too. This is a kid-friendly and dog-friendly event. Registration required.

Greater Rochester Heritage Days Festival

May 28-29, 2022

Enjoy this family-friendly event that features a car festival, pancake breakfast, art show with handmade artwork, plant sale, food trucks, live performances and more.

Kensington Metropark Art Fair

May 28-30, 2022

Enjoy art by artists from across the country as well as live art demonstrations, hands-on activities for kids, food for the family and more.

Movement Electronic Music Festival

May 28-30, 2022

This annual fest captures the essences of the techno roots that can be found here in Detroit. Best for older teens and parents who are techno fans.
