Memorial Day means more than just a long weekend. It’s a chance to get out of the house and honor our fallen soldiers.
This year, the weekend is full of ceremonies, services, parades and family fun activities all across Macomb, Oakland, Washtenaw and Wayne counties, that are sure to provide fun for everyone. Cake on the sunscreen and line the streets to watch a parade in the morning, then grab your cooler for a fun carnival treat later in the day!

Memorial Day at Fuerst Park

A Soldier’s Tribute: A Walking Tour of Mt. Avon Cemetery Tour

Celebrate Memorial Day with a walking tour of Mt. Avon Cemetery. It features soldiers and families from World War I and II, the Civil War, the Toledo War and the Revolutionary War.
Southfield Memorial Day Ceremony

Greater Rochester Heritage Days Festival

Movement Electronic Music Festival at Hart Plaza

This festival makes its appearance in Detroit on Memorial Day weekend. Thousands of people from across the globe gather here to celebrate the birthplace of techno. This dance music festival showcases new and old music influences. Aimed at older teens and grown-ups.
Holly Memorial Day Ceremony

Attend a Memorial Day Ceremony at Great Lakes National Cemetery honoring deceased veterans. The VFW State Honor Guard will present the colors and perform a rifle salute during the ceremony. There will be patriotic music, too.
St. Clair Shores Memorial Day Parade

The 69th parade includes military and veteran groups, high school marching bands, public officials, clowns, motorcycles, Jeeps and more.
Annual Memorial Day Service at Resurrection Cemetery

Starts off in Section 55 and is followed by a service to dedicate Veterans inscription tablets in the Veterans section of the cemetery.
Dearborn Memorial Day Parade

This 96th annual event brings local bands, businesses and organizations together to honor our fallen heroes.
Farmington Memorial Day Parade

- Address: Along Grand River Avenue, between Orchard Lake Road and downtown Farmington

The parade ends with a ceremony at Memorial Park at Grand River Avenue and Oakland Street. A free community luncheon follows.
Grosse Pointe Memorial Day Service

Highland Township Memorial Day Ceremonies

Memorial Day Parade in Milford

Novi Memorial Day Run

Sign up for a 5K, 10K or one-mile family run at this 10th annual event. Awards for all finishers. Dogs are welcome. Registration required.
River Edge Run

- Cost: $35/10K, $30/5K, $10/kids run
Take part in Milford’s 5K, 10K or kid’s run on Memorial Day. The races begin at Carl’s Family YMCA and go along the Milford Trail. Registration required.
Royal Oak Memorial Day Parade & Ceremony

Celebrate Memorial Day at this annual procession. A ceremony will follow after.
South Lyon Memorial Day Parade

- Address: Downtown South Lyon area

The parade starts at Bartlett Elementary and heads down 10 Mile Road. It goes through downtown and ends at the South Lyon Cemetery with a ceremony that commemorates the holiday and the veterans that sacrificed their lives.
Sterling Heights Memorial Day Parade

- Cost: Free
Hundreds gather for a solemn tribute to the fallen at this 43rd-time event. There will be a parade to follow that kicks off from the City Center parking lot.
Walled Lake Memorial Day Parade

- Address: Downtown Walled Lake area
- Cost: Free
The parade will take place in downtown Walled Lake. They will be passing out candy along the way so make sure to bring a bag to collect it in.
