Metro Parent Camp & Activity Fair 2012

Call summer camp the comeback kid. Attendance is taking an uphill hike, local hotspots are reporting. So – how do you pick the one that’s right for your tot or teen? The Metro Parent Camp & Activity Fair 2012, of course! Now with two unique events – one in person and the other at MetroParent.com – consider us your one-stop shop for the best in summer fun, whatever your kids’ interests.

On Sunday, Feb. 12, 2012 chat face-to-face with camp reps from noon to 3:30 p.m. at Franklin Athletic Club in Southfield. Bring the kids: Not only can you explore dozens of choices in southeast Michigan and beyond together – from nature, sports and horse riding to tech, theater, arts and special needs – but there’s special hands-on fun for them, too.

Like tennis demos (sponsored by Franklin), arts and crafts fun and a “Learn to Canoe” workshop with Camp Newaygo. Then, refuel at the Plum Market YouScoop Trail Mix Station. And don’t miss the REI Erect-a-Tent Challenge: Three families will compete to see who can pitch a tent the fastest. The winner takes home a new four-person tent! (Enter to participate by Feb. 1.) Watch for other special contests and giveaways, too.

Then, starting Monday, Feb. 13, 2012, visit MetroParent.com/VirtualCampFair for a roundup of all the camps at the event – plus articles, a fun scavenger hunt and chance to score even more swag.

Best of all? Both events are totally free! It’s Metro Parent’s 23rd year producing this favorite – so rest assured we know where to find some darn cool camps.
