Summer is upon us, and with it comes the perfect opportunity to make fun memories. What better way to bring your family together than with music? Southeast Michigan is full of summertime concerts for you and your family to enjoy.

Sound like the perfect event for you and your crew? Peruse this list to find some of the best music in the park events in Macomb, Oakland, Washtenaw and Wayne counties.

Once you find the one for you, grab a blanket and head out for an evening of musical memories.

Note: Some events are free, others require a fee for parking or admission. Call ahead to be sure.

Macomb County

Summer Sounds

June 3-Sept. 5, 2022 (Fridays-Sundays)

These weekend shows feature nearly 40 local artists. Make sure to bring a folding camp chair or low-to-the-ground chair since seating is limited.

Sunday Night Concert Series at Lake St. Clair Metropark 

June 5-Sept. 5, 2022 (Sundays)

Bring a chair, or a blanket, and kick back to some fun tunes across multiple genres.

Summer Concert Series at Stony Creek Metropark 

June 10, 24, July 8, 22 and Aug. 5 and 19, 2022

Concerts will be held at Thomas Welsh Activity Center. Bring blankets, chairs and even a picnic to enjoy while listening to the beautiful sounds of the symphony. For all ages.

Symphony by the Shores at Lake St. Clair Metropark 

June 21-July 26, 2022 (Tuesdays)

Bring a chair, or a blanket, and kick back to some fun tunes across multiple genres.

Music in the Park in Macomb Township 

June 30 and July 7-28, 2022 (Thursdays) 

There’s a Kid Zone play area, complete with inflatables and games in addition to the live musical performances.

Concerts in the Park at Chesterfield Parks and Recreation 

July 8-Aug. 12, 2022 (Fridays) 

Families can bring a chair, or a blanket, and some snacks to listen to music at the park. Food trucks and classic cars will be on site. July 8 features performances by Sonic Freeway, July 15 is The Meldrum Brothers, July 22 is American Ages, July 29 is Mainstream Drive, Aug. 5 is Dr. Jim & Mr. Jimmy and Aug. 12 is Vitale and the Verdicts.

Music and Movies in the Park

July 13, 20 and 27, 2022

Head to the Civic Center to enjoy pre-show activities, music and an outdoor family-friendly film. July 13 features performances by Weekend Comback and a screening of Sing 2. July 20 is Room 13 and The Mitchell’s vs. the Machines. July 27 is Collision Six and Encanto.

Oakland County 

Concert in the Park at Central Park 

June 2-July 28, 2022 (Thursdays)

Families can enjoy music of all types every Thursday evening in June and July at Central Park. Hot dogs, burgers, ice cream and drinks will be available to purchase.

Concerts in the Park at Hess-Hathaway Park 

June 2-30, 2022 (Thursdays)

Enjoy local talent and a featured band at this summer event. Food and beverages are available to purchase.

Concerts in the Park at Depot Park 

June 10-July 15, 2022 (Fridays) 

Depot Park boasts Friday night concerts, which feature music from local talents along with big names like Air Margaritaville and Stardusters. There will also be kid’s activities.

Friday Nights Music Series in Auburn Hills 

June 10-Aug. 26, 2022 (Fridays) 

Start your weekend off with live music every Friday night at the Knight Amphitheater. See Motown, Elton John and Tom Petty tributes.

Concert in the Park at Wildwood Amphitheater

June 14-Aug. 9, 2022 (Tuesdays) 

Families gather for performances by Shattered (a Rolling Stones tribute), The Look (Detroit Rock Legends), Digaphony (a Beatles tribute) and more.

Stars in the Park in Farmington Hills 

June 16-Aug. 18, 2022 (Thursdays)

Enjoy live shows at Heritage Park’s outdoor amphitheater. Shows are approximately an hour and a half each and families are encouraged to bring blankets, lawn chairs and a picnic dinner.

Friday Night Live Concert Series 

June 24, July 30 and Aug. 27, 2022

The concerts will take place on the last Friday of the month during the summer months. June 24 features Alan Posner – Klezundheit, July 30 features Bugs Beddow Band and Aug. 27 features Sax Maniacs.

Lathrup Village Free Summer Concerts 2022

June 29-Aug. 3, 2022 (Wednesdays)

See some local talents at these outdoor concerts on Wednesday evenings in the summer. Bring your own chair, blanket and picnic meal.

Marshbank Music Series at Marshbank Park 

July 20, 27 and Aug. 3, 2022

Each concert features music from different genres, food trucks and a beer and wine tent. July 20 is Persuasion, July 27 is Kaitlyn Rose and Aug. 3 is The Insiders.

Washtenaw County

Sounds & Sights on Thursday Nights at Palmer Commons 

June 2-July 28, 2022 (Thursdays) 

This music extravaganza offers all kinds of genres of music performed live throughout the summer. For kids, there will be magicians, jugglers, face painters, balloon artists, circus acts, a ‘How-to-Chalk’-themed art stage and more. 

Ann Arbor Civic Band Summer Concert Season 

June 15-July 20, 2022 (Wednesdays) 

See the Ann Arbor Civic Band along with their new band directors, Dr. J and Nick Smith, at this summer concert series event.

Wayne County

Music in the Air Concert Series at Kellogg Park

June 3-Sept. 2, 2022 (Fridays) 

See live outdoor musical performances on the Hines Park Lincoln Stage in Kellogg Park throughout the summer. You can drop off your chairs and blankets at 3:30 p.m. on concert days.

Thursday Night LIVE Concert Series

June 30 and July 14, 21 and 28, 2022

Bring your own blanket and chairs to enjoy music and fun at the amphitheater in Heritage Park. A variety of food trucks and Maraschinos Pub will be on site selling snacks, beer, wine, and Coldstone ice cream.

Tuesdays are Terrific

July 12, 19, 26 and Aug. 9, 2022

Kids are invited to enjoy music, food and fun at Heritage Park. Bring your own blankets or folding chairs while you relax and enjoy the music on the Amphitheater lawn.
