Summer is upon us, and with it comes the perfect opportunity to make fun memories. What better way to bring your family together than with music? Southeast Michigan is full of summertime concerts for you and your family to enjoy.

Sound like the perfect event for you and your crew? Peruse this list to find some of the best music in the park events in Macomb, Oakland, Washtenaw and Wayne counties. Once you find the one for you, grab a blanket and head out for an evening of musical memories.

Macomb County

Sunday Night Concert Series 

May 30-Sept. 5, 2021 (Sundays)

Bring a chair, or a blanket, and kick back to some fun tunes across multiple genres.

Summer Concert Series at Stony Creek Metropark

June 4, 18, July 2, 16, 30, Aug. 6 and 13, 2021

This event is fun for all ages. Enjoy the music of metro Detroit bands on Eastwood Beach.

Music on the Lake Concerts

June 9-Aug. 11, 2021 (Wednesdays)

This concert series opens with Teddy Petty and the Refugees on June 9 and features The Groove Council (July 23), Joey Vee Band (Aug. 4) and Air Margaritaville (Aug. 11), among others.

Summer Sounds

June 18-Sept. 6, 2021 (Fridays-Sundays)

Listen to nearly 40 local artists at this musical event. All shows are weather permitting.

Music in the Park in Macomb Township

June 24 and July 8-29, 2021 (Thursdays) 

There’s a Kidzone play area, complete with inflatables and games, in addition to the live musical performances. They happen rain or shine, so be sure to dress for the weather, and bring a lawn chair or blanket to sit on during the show.

Midweek Music Concert Series

July 7-Aug. 25, 2021 (Wednesdays)

This free event is great for the whole family. Some of the musical acts include David Shelby on July 7, Foster & Lewis on July 21, Crewsade on Aug. 4 and Gobbies on Aug. 25.

Oakland County

Friday Night Live Concert Series

May 28, June 25, July 30 and Aug. 27, 2021

  • Address: Center Street Park, downtown Milford area

The concerts will take place on the last Friday of the month during the summer months. Brought to you by the Huron Valley Council for the Arts and Milford DDA.

Concerts in the Park in Waterford

June 3-24, 2021 (Thursdays)

Enjoy local talent and a featured band on this summer event. Food and beverages are available to purchase.

Concerts in the Park in Clarkston

June 11-July 16, 2021 (Fridays) 

Depot Park boasts Friday night concerts, which feature music from local talents along with big names like The Randy Brock Group and The Hustlers. There will also be face painting and ice cream for the little ones.

Stars in the Park in Farmington Hills

June 17-24 and July 8-Aug. 19, 2021 (Thursdays)

Let the music entertain you while you relax under the stars at Heritage Park. Featured artists include Atomic Radio on July 8, High School Music on July 15, FCB Big Band on July 29 and The Whiskey Charmers on Aug. 5.

Lathrup Village Free Summer Concerts 2021

June 23-Aug. 11, 2021 (Wednesdays)

Some of the entertainers include Detroit Social Club on June 30, KGB on July 14, Yaminah on Aug. 4 and more.

Friday Nights Music Series in Auburn Hills

July 9-Aug. 27, 2021 (Fridays) 

Start your weekend off with live music every Friday night.

Marshbank Music Series 2.0 in West Bloomfield

July 14, 21 and 28, 2021

Cool down the summer nights with some hot hits by three live bands. Rotating food trucks, too. Admission is $10/car.

Washtenaw County

Ann Arbor Civic Band Summer Concert Season

June 16-July 14, 2021 (Wednesdays) 

  • Address: West Park Band Shell, on Seventh Street between Miller and Huron streets, Ann Arbor

Enjoy the tunes of this 86-year-old community band at this annual concert series. Don’t forget to check out the kids’ concert on July 8.

Sounds & Sights on Thursday Nights in Chelsea

July 1-Aug. 12, 2021 (Thursdays) 

  • Address: Various locations, downtown Chelsea area

This music extravaganza offers all kinds of genres of music performed live throughout the summer. There’s a sculpture walk, too.

Wayne County

Music in the Park in Dearborn

June 2-Aug, 18, 2021 (Wednesdays)

This 12-week music series includes local entertainment including hip-hop, pop, jazz, rock, techno and reggae.

Music in the Air Concert Series in Plymouth

June 4-Sept. 3, 2021 (Fridays) 

  • Address: Kellogg Park, Main Street and Penniman Avenue, downtown Plymouth

This year’s artists include Dale Hicks on June 11, Magic Bus on July 23, Power Play Detroit on Aug.6 and many others.

Rockin’ on the Riverfront Summer Concert Series

June 4, 11, 18, 25, July 2-3, 9, 16-17, 30, Aug. 6-7, 13, 20, 27-28 and Sept. 3, 2021

  • Address: GM Riverfront Plaza, near the Renaissance Center in Detroit

This annual series officially kicks off summer in the D with some hard rock shows.

Wilcox Wednesdays Music in the Park
