North American International Auto Show in Detroit

Families can check out the 31st annual North American International Auto Show at Cobo Center in Detroit, Jan. 19-27, 2019.

If attending the Auto Show is one of your family’s favorite traditions, it’s time to start making your plans. Organizers are gearing up for the 31st annual North American International Auto Show, which will return to Cobo Center in downtown Detroit from Jan. 19 to 27, 2019.

One of the most notable auto shows in the country, the event gives visitors the chance to get up close and personal with some of the newest vehicles and technologies in the auto industry.

Whether you’re a fan of electric vehicles, muscle cars or big trucks, adults and kids alike will enjoy checking out all that the famous show has to offer.

The event officially kicks off Jan. 12 with the “ultra-luxury automotive event” The Gallery, followed by several preview events leading up to the nine-day public show starting Jan. 19.

Here are some of the highlights to look for during the show:

  • Cars on Parade: A parade of cars, local stars and special surprises from the Parade Company will take place at 3:30 and 7 p.m. daily.
  • WXYZ Family Day: Musical performances and other family-friendly activities will be offered on Jan. 21.
  • Sensory-Friendly Day: On Jan. 27, the show will reduce flashing lights and volume so that guests with sensory spectrum disorders can enjoy the show.

Public show hours are 9 a.m.-10 p.m. (no admittance after 9 p.m.) Jan. 19-Jan. 26, and 9 a.m.-7 p.m. (no admittance after 6 p.m.) on Jan. 27.

Tickets are priced at $14/adults, $7/seniors 65-plus and kids ages 7-12, and free/children 6 years old and younger.
