Nursery School Olympics at Elizabeth Park Trenton

So maybe your aspiring athletes are still a wee bit young to be Rio-bound for the next summer Olympic games (coming up in 2016). But they can still take home a medal this summer – guaranteed, no less! – and make their parents proud in the 24th annual Nursery School Olympics hosted by Wayne County Parks.

Elizabeth Park, Trenton’s popular family gathering spot, hosts the fun once again on Thursday, June 4, 2015. Head downriver for the action!

Competitors ages 5 and under are invited to earn their prize in a variety of pint-sized activities. They can try their little hands at the marshmallow shot put, hurling tasty soft treats as far as they’ll go. Or there’s the paper plate discus, where lightweight discs will wobble through the air. Crawling tots race in the diaper derby, while the speedier (read: walking) set can move those legs in the toddler trot. And then, athletes can spin off in the Big Wheel Grand Prix (be sure to bring along your own a Big Wheel or bike to participate).

The day tops off with a participation medal for each tyke – and a grand “red, white and blue parade” where parents and kids can take a victory march together.

Events commence at 10:30 a.m. Fans are called to gather and cheer on their tiny Olympians in this scenic Wayne County park locale. Ultimately, it’s a noncompetitive event – think of it as a chance to lets small fries get their first taste of trying out physical challenges alongside their peers.

All interested “competitors” can register on site (for free) on the day of the event. For more information, including the phone number, website and directions for the 2015 Nursery School Olympics in Elizabeth Park Trenton, be sure to check out the Metro Parent event listing.

Let the games begin!
