Kids' creativity shines – and plenty of locally made art tempts parents – for a 10th year at the Orchard Lake Fine Art Show in West Bloomfield. The favorite event returns to Oakland County July 27-29, 2012 with fun for the entire family.
Friendly and upscale, this acclaimed fair is designed for art lovers of all ages. Live music plays throughout the event, and fresh flowers on every table help create its relaxing, enjoyable atmosphere.
As has become tradition, this year's fair includes numerous activities for children. Some include plaster painting, tie-dye T-shirts, candle making and face painting – and kids get to keep their creations, too!
Also, be sure to explore the sixth annual Youth Art Competition, sponsored by the Chadwick Accounting Group. This competition gives kids in grades K-8 a chance to enter their artwork to be publicly displayed – and an opportunity to win a cash prize.
This year's fair has 125 to 200 accepted artists of all disciplines, including sculpture, paintings, clay, glass, fiber, jewelry, photography, wood and more. The cost is $5 admission and is free to children 12 and under. The scheduled times for the art show are:
- Friday, July 27: 5-9 p.m.
- Saturday, July 28: 10 a.m.-9 p.m.
- Sunday, July 29: 10 a.m.-5 p.m.
The fun happens on Powers and Daly roads, south of Maple Road. There's plenty of free parking behind the commercial buildings Barnes & Noble and Beaumont Medical Center. Pets are allowed on a short leash; however, it is asked to keep pets out of all tented areas.
