Here, find a list of upcoming summer running events to help push you to success. Sign up for some extra fun at a free walk/run or test your abilities ramp up your workout at a 5K or 10K race.
Detroit Riverfront Run
June 11, 2022
- Address: Detroit Riverfront Conservancy, 600 Renaissance Center #1720, Detroit
- Cost: $35-plus
This race features a 5K and 10K run and walk. The race route will showcase the Detroit Riverwalk and Dequindre Cut. All participants will receive a t-shirt, a commemorative medal, post-race snacks and other goodies.
Walk For Miracles
June 11, 2022
- Address: Detroit Zoo, 8450 W. Ten Mile Road, Royal Oak
- Cost: Walkers must register for the event and make a minimum donation of $5/person or $20/family. Additional fundraising is encouraged.
Dress as your favorite superhero character to meet Super Beau, the Beaumont Children’s mascot bear, along with other popular fairytale and comic book heroes. Each child will receive a super hero cape, snacks and refreshments. All proceeds will support nonprofit pediatric programs at Beaumont Children’s. Advance registration required.
Run for Nature
June 12, 2022
- Address: Troy Farm, South Blvd. and Beach Road, Troy
- Cost: $35/adult, $15/youth
Enjoy a family-friendly race that will help benefit the Stage Nature Center. Little ones can participate in their own “Little Sprout Sprint.” Pre-registration is recommended; walk-ins are welcome.
2022 “I Gave My Soul for Parkinson’s” Walk
June 18, 2022
- Address: First Presbyterian Church, 1669 W. Maple Road, Birmingham
- Cost: $20/ages 13 and older, $15/ages 12 and under
The 2022 Metro Detroit Walk features your choice of a one-mile or three-mile route through a Birmingham neighborhood. Also, entertainment, photo booth, healthy snacks, exercise demos and a health fair exhibit.
MIU Run for the Ribbon
June 19, 2022
- Address: Detroit Zoo, 8450 W. Ten Mile Road, Royal Oak
- Cost: $35/5K and one-mile zoo stroll, $25/Doze for Dads
This year’s Run for the Ribbon, “Together Again,” takes place on Father’s Day. Participate in the 5K run/walk loop or a one-mile stroll around the zoo.
Ele’s Place Ann Arbor Healing Hearts Family 5K Walk/Run
June 25, 2022
- Address: Thomson Reuters, 6300 Interfirst Drive, Ann Arbor
- Cost: $35/5K walk/run, free/Kid’s dash and kid’s mile
Help raise awareness of and provide support to grieving children, teens and adults. The Kid’s Dash is for ages 3-6 and the Kid’s Mile is for ages 7-12. Virtual race option available, too. Registration required.
Whitmore Lake Races: Red, White, and Blue COLOR Blast Run
June 25, 2022
- Address: Whitmore Middle School, 8877 Main St., Whitmore Lake
- Cost: $30-plus
Wear your red, white and blue to take part in a 5K or 10K run in celebration of the Fourth of July. During this race, you will get blasted by red and blue powder. There will be prizes given, too.
Ann Arbor Sports Commission Firecracker 5K
July 4, 2022
- Address: Downtown Ann Arbor, S. 4th Ave. and E. Liberty St., Ann Arbor
- Cost: $45-plus
There will be three events to choose from; the firecracker 5K, a one-mile Fun Run and a Kids’ 200-meter dash. Virtual options available.
ZooFest ‘A Wild Walk 4 Mental Health’
July 10, 2022
- Address: Detroit Zoo, 8450 W. Ten Mile Road, Royal Oak
- Cost: $30-plus, free/ages 2 and under
This family-friendly event includes a scavenger hunt, bagel breakfast, event t-shirt, music, raffle and other activities. All proceeds benefit our local communities by increasing mental health resources available specifically during, but not limited to, times of crisis. Registration required.
Escape to Belle Isle

Enjoy a race on Belle Isle that helps raise money for the Ronald McDonald House Charity. There is a virtual run option available, too.
Firefly Glow-in-the-Dark Fun Run 5K

Join Washtenaw County Parks and Recreation for their third annual Glow-in-the-Dark Fun Run through County Farm Park. You’ll receive a special t-shirt. Registration required.
Strides Against Abuse 5K Run/Walk
July 30, 2022
- Address: Fuller Park, 1519 Fuller Road, Ann Arbor
- Cost: $20
This event offers three different races: a competitive 5K run, a non-competitive 5K run/walk and a one-mile family stroller walk. Registration required. Must register by July 15 to receive a t-shirt.
2022 Tunnel to Towers 5K Run & Walk Metro Detroit
Sept. 11, 2022
- Address: Lake Saint Clair Metropark, 31300 Metro Pkwy., Harrison Township
- Cost: $35/adult, $25/first responders and military, $20/children ages 13-17, $15/children ages 12 and under; $11/parking pass
This race is to honor first responders, remember 9/11 and raise funds for the Tunnel to Towers programs. You may run or walk the 5K. Registration required.
Up Cancer
Sept. 17, 2022
- Address: Olson Park, 1515 Dhu Varren Road, Ann Arbor
- Cost: $25/5K without swag, $30/5K with swag
Head to Olson Park in Ann Arbor and support Up Cancer with a 5K race. Virtual race option available, too. There will be music, refreshments and vendors at the finish line. Also, race t-shirts and awards.
