Six Great Places to Camp Around the Enchanted Mountains

When you start planning your family’s next vacation, chances are booking a hotel is one of the things on the list.

Although there are hotels throughout Cattaraugus County in New York, the Getaway spot we highlight in the May 2015 issue of Metro Parent, many visitors choose a campsite, instead. Here are some of the most popular New York state camping sites in the Enchanted Mountains area.

Allegany State Park

New this year, the park has added cabins along with the regular assortment of RV hookups. Big bonus: paddleboat, fishing and other rental equipment located within the park.

Arrowhead Camping Area

This 200-acre family-owned campground is the oldest in the state.

Lake Lane Fishing & Camping Getaway

The name says it all! Families choose this Olean campsite for prime fishing. And yes, you can rent your poles on site.

Riverhurst Park Campground

Right along the banks of the Allegheny River, you can take your pick of RV hookups, rustic camping or even chalets, which include a kitchen and bathroom.

Shamrock Pines Campground

Located in Franklinville, this camping spot has a pool, playground and arcade games.

Triple R Camping Resort & Trailer Sales

Also in Franklinville, this top-rated camping locale features miniature golf along with planned events for families.
