Drifting from a Valentine’s Day pasta and wine stupor straight into a rom-com was once fun but metro Detroit and Ann Arbor have since stepped up their Valentine’s Day game — and you should, too.
While there are many fun Valentine’s Day events for families, if you’re looking for something a bit steamier for mom and dad to get into, look no further.
Sound like fun ways to spend Valentine’s Day? Read on for more.
Note: Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, some events and activities may enforce safety protocols. Check ahead before you head out.
All tied up
Rope-tying and bondage — the act of safely tying yourself or others up in intricate loops and knots — is being practiced at Detroit’s Oblige Rope, Kink Art Boutique. Try rope-tying courses for couples or open play every other weekend. You can check YouTube for expert series that guides novices through the act, too.
Get your Valentine’s Day started off right with Miss Holly Hock — the owner of the Detroit School of Burlesque. She’ll teach you how to impress your significant other with sultry moves.
Watch out for shows to enjoy together in the future (they’re on hold do to COVID, currently) or find tutorials for simple burlesque tutorials on YouTube to make this Valentine’s Day one you’ll remember.
While you could certainly sign up for a tango class, dance facilities across metro Detroit now offer something more interesting: Exotic dancing. Vixen Dance is offering exotic, chair and pole dancing courses for all skill levels. Age restrictions and dress codes may apply.
Hot and sweaty
If you two are fitness fanatics, why not choose an activity that will strengthen your bodies and your bond? Multiple yoga studios across metro Detroit are offering online yoga options — including partner and tantric yoga.
Can’t find a studio that’s offering what you’re looking for? Check out YouTube for even more ideas.
Boudoir photography can help you build confidence and get intimate with your partner. Plus, it’s a chance to give them a very personal and special gift. Find a list of local photographers that offers boudoir services here.
Steam it up
Literally steam things up at a local bathhouse or outdoor soaking tubs. The Oasis in Ann Arbor offers multiple themed soaking rooms, and charges $42 per hour for two people on Valentine’s day — the price increases by $15 after 5 p.m.
The Dirty Show
After a hiatus due to COVID-19, The Dirty Show returns to Detroit’s Russel Industry Center Feb. 11-12 and 18-19, 2022. Get a general admission ticket for $42 and explore erotic art in all forms together.
