When it comes to family fall activities in Michigan, October festivals are a must and with the incoming fall season, comes the 17th annual Trenton Scarecrow Festival.
It’s returning Sept. 28-29, 2019, and features live music, entertainment and, of course, plenty of fall fun, courtesy of the Downtown Event Planners.
Start the fun by building a scarecrow. Get creative, give it a name and show it off for cash prizes in the annual scarecrow contest. It’s open to families, kids, adults, businesses and other organizations and you have the option of donating it to charity after the fest.
After your creation is submitted for judgement, check out all of the other fun family-friendly entertainment including live performances by the Trenton School of Dance, the Trenton Middle School band and many others.
And on Sunday, show off your pooch in a dog costume contest. Dress him or her in the best outfit for the pageant. Local judges select first-, second- and third-place winners.
The fun does not stop there. Families also get to enjoy a kids’ area full of games and rides, a craft show, punkin’ chunkin’ and more.
Admission is free but fees apply for some activities. The times are as follows:
- Saturday: 10 a.m.-10:30 p.m.
- Sunday: 11 a.m.-5:45 p.m.
