Metro Detroit’s Sweet Spots for Kid-Friendly Trick-or-Treating

Take your kids to do some unique trick-or-treating this Halloween season.

With Halloween coming up, there are so many things to do, including trunk-or-treat events and Halloween-themed trails. We love trick-or-treating in our town, but we can’t help but celebrate all month long at these events in metro Detroit.

Check out our list below of some we think your kids will love.

Trick or Treat Trail 2024 at Whistle Stop Hobby & Toy, Inc.

Oct. 5, 2024 

Bring your little ones to walk along the trick-or-treat trail to collect candy along the way. Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse will be there for pictures. Receive a free pumpkin with an in-store purchase. Wear costumes. No RSVP required.

Halloween Hoopla at Macomb Township Recreation Center

Oct. 18, 2024 

This costume carnival features a trick-or-treating trail and other fun Halloween activities and attractions. Advanced registration required.

HarvestFest at Freedom Hill County Park

Oct 19-20, 2024 

There will be a pumpkin patch, trick-or-treating, games, music, inflatables, movies, music and food trucks. Make sure to wear your costume. 

Terror on Tillson Street Trick-or-Treating

Oct. 31, 2024

  • Address: Tillson Street, between Sisson and South Main streets, Romeo
  • Cost: Free

The entire block goes all out for Halloween, decorating the houses as spooky as can be. Bring your little ones to trick-or-treat and experience the fun!

The Detroit Zoo will be open until dark for this annual “merry-not-scary” Halloween celebration, which features strolling entertainment, Halloween face painting, photo opportunities, trick-or-treating stations and more.

Boo Bash at Heritage Park

Oct. 20, 2024

Dress up in your favorite costume and enjoy a hayride, s’mores, crafts, a creepy crawly creature display and a trick-or-treat trail. Advanced registration required.

Meadow Brook Hall-oween at Meadow Brook Hall

Oct. 20, 2024 

Kids can enjoy trick-or-treating throughout the historic mansion and outdoors on the grounds of the estate. Cider and donuts will be provided. Advanced registration required.

Trick-or-Treat: Superheroes at Troy Historic Village

Oct. 25-26, 2024

  • Address: 60 W. Wattles Road, Troy
  • Cost: Advanced: $5/members, $9/non-members; At the door: $7/members, $10/non-members

This year’s theme is Superheroes. Families can expect superhero decorations, games, crafts and trick-or-treating. It’s friendly, not scary.

Trick-or-Treat Trail at Marshbank Park

Oct. 27, 2024

Families can enjoy this safe and friendly half-mile paved trail at Marshbank Park during the Trick-or-Treat Trail event. Put on your costume and head out to collect goodies from costumed characters, local businesses and organizations.

Brownstown Trick or Treat Trail

Volunteers and local businesses will be along the Event Center’s trail passing out goodies. Bring your own bag.

Bring your little goblins to Ford House for this annual day of Halloween entertainment filled with spooky yet kid-friendly fun. There will be trick-or-treating, photo ops and a haunt-free hayride.

Trick or Treat on the River at Gallup Park

Oct. 13, 2024

Families will visit treat stations on the river by boat and receive a treat at each station. Also, activities and games on land. For ages one and up. No pre-registration required.

Thrills at the Mills at Hudson Mills Metropark

Oct. 26, 2024

At this annual event, there will be trunk-or-treating, Halloween treats and a huge dance party. Pre-registration is required for treaters and trunks.
