Turtle Island at PuppetART Detroit Puppet Theater

Families are invited to enjoy a story told by puppets and live actors at the Detroit Puppet Theater this November.

Turtle Island is a story inspired by a legend “that came from the heart and soul of the Native People of North America,” according to the theater. “Join two brothers on their journey of understanding as they learn that people are a part of the natural world and celebrate the connection of all living things.”

Showtimes for Turtle Island are 2 p.m. on Nov. 5, 12, 19, 26 and 27, 2016. There will also be a performance at 10 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 17.

The show will use various puppets, light effects, live actors and masks to tell the story, which explains how the brothers learn that “all things are connected.” The production has been nominated for the 2015 Wilde Performing Arts Award for “Best Theater for Young Audiences.”

All shows by the PuppetART Detroit Puppet Theater are entertaining for people of all ages, from babies to adults.

Tickets for public performances at the PuppetART Detroit Puppet Theater are priced at $5 for children and $10 for adults. Workshops, which are offered after each public show, are available for $8 per participant. Be sure to bring cash or a check; credit cards aren’t accepted.

The PuppetART Detroit Puppet Theater puts on original performances each month throughout the year, including other upcoming favorites like Snow Queen in December and January and Oh, Ananse! in February. You can learn more about the unique theater here.
