June is Pride Month, and metro Detroit and Ann Arbor families can celebrate and support the LGBTQIA community with a variety of in-person and virtual events this summer.
Here are some of our favorite happenings in metro Detroit, Ann Arbor and beyond for Pride 2022.
Ferndale Pride
June 4, 2022
- Address: Downtown Ferndale area
- Cost: Free
This festival celebrates the progress made by the LGBT community through music, stage performances, vendors and fun.
Ortonville Pride Festival
June 4, 2022
- Address: Downtown Ortonville area
- Cost: Free
There will be a parade, vendors, food trucks, entertainment, speakers, kids games, movie and more at this first annual event for Pride.
Boylesque PRIDE Drag Brunch
June 5, 2022
- Address: Sidetrack Bar and Grill, 56 E. Cross St., Ypsilanti
- Cost: $12/person
All ages are welcome to enjoy a drag show brunch with performances by Maxi Chane and Heshae Chocolatae. Music will be by AYIENDE AUDIO.
Zion Pride: Donation Based Yoga
June 5, 2022
- Address: Riverside Park, 2 E. Cross St., Ypsilanti
- Cost: $20
Raise money for Ozone Health, a local mental health non-profit, at this event. Join founders, Art and Aubrey for an all-levels Yoga class and enjoy a mental health fair, too.
Art|Pride: Behind the Seen with the Detroit Institute of Arts
June 7, 2022
- Address: William P. Faust Public Library, 6123 Central City Pkwy., Westland
- Cost: Free
Adults are invited for an in-person program presented by the DIA to raise awareness of the significant contributions by LGBT modern and contemporary artists and their impact. Registration required.
Pride Trivia Night
June 8, 2022
- Address: Novi Public Library, 45255 W. 10 Mile Road, Novi
- Cost: Free
Join the library for some fun LGBTQ+ trivia and game show-style games to celebrate Pride Month! For ages 12 and up.
Motor City Pride Fest
June 11-12, 2022
- Address: Hart Plaza, 1 Hart Plaza, Detroit
- Cost: $5/cover, free/12 and under
This annual event brings 40,000 people together to celebrate the LGBTQIA community. The parade will take place on Sunday.
Grosse Pointe Pride 2022
June 18, 2022
- Address: Downtown Grosse Pointe
- Cost: Free
Families can enjoy a walk around downtown Grosse Pointe for Pride-themed activities.
DIA Behind the Seen: Art|Pride
June 20, 2022
- Hosted By: Troy Public Library, 510 W. Big Beaver Road, Troy
- Cost: Free
Adults are invited for a virtual program presented by the DIA to raise awareness of the significant contributions by modern and contemporary LGBTQ+ artists. Registration required.
Pride Picnic
June 26, 2022
- Address: Dodge Park, 40620 Utica Road, Sterling Heights
- Cost: Free; $5/suggested donation
Join in on the fun celebrating Pride Month with Macomb County Pride. Make sure to bring your picnic lunch and blanket with you. They will offer yard games and music.
South Lyon LGBT+ Pride Event
July 9, 2022
- Address: McHattie Park, S. Lafayette St., South Lyon
- Cost: Free; $5/suggested donation
There will be music, vendors, food trucks, face painting, art activities, entertainment, drag queen story time and more at this event for Pride.
