Washi Tape Paper Easter Baskets Craft

Do your children use the same Easter basket year after year – or do they get a new one from not only you, but other family members? Are you looking for a simple Easter treat to give out? If you’re hunting for an easy-to-make holiday extra to give family and friends this year, try crafting these small paper bag Easter baskets. The basket weaving is courtesy of washi tape, and the filler is crinkle paper, which can be recycled for other gifts.

Materials

  • Small paper bags – 4 by 6 inches
  • Washi tape in two colors
  • Hole puncher
  • Brads
  • Construction paper
  • Scissors
  • Crinkle paper

Instructions

1. Start out by placing three pieces of washi tape vertically on the bag front, going up 3/4-inch of the bag’s height. Fold any excess tape onto the bottom of the bag. Repeat for the other side of the bag.
2. Next, place three pieces of another washi tape horizontally on the bag front, spaced evenly. (It’s OK if your tape is tucked on the inside of the bag – we’ll cover that up.) Repeat for the other side.

3. On the gussets of the bag, add three vertical pieces to cover up any overage of washi tape from the placement on the front.

4. Fold the bag top outward 1/2-inch once – and then twice. Crease the fold.
5. Punch a hole on either side of the bag. Cut a 1-inch piece (length is up to you) of construction paper and secure to bag with a brad.
6. Add crinkle and treats of your choice.
