Earlier this month, I stopped by my local Joann Fabric and Crafts store to pick up my weekly need of craft supplies and to see what was new. I was so glad I stopped by on this particular day as I was greeted by a new, vibrant display at the front of the store with a very familiar face smiling at me – it was Jennifer Garner and apparently she is a crafter?! I knew I had to put my shopping list away for a few minutes and explore.
We Made It by Jennifer Garner is a new Joann-exclusive craft line that’s not only for children, but for children to share with everyone in their family. The kits are designed for children ages 4-11, but as a family project you’ll find that crafters of all ages will love to sit down and add their special touches to these products.
Learning more about the line’s offering I found this video featuring the creator herself and was struck by so many things she had to share, that she hoped families took away, but one line in particular really made me smile: “This isn’t just a toy in a box. It represents a memory you’re going to make with your child.” Now that’s my kind of craft project.
So what kind of We Made It products are available? Anything and everything. On the small side there are sticker sheets and on the large side there are on-the-go dollhouses. You can makes costumes for your dolls or superhero capes to run around the block in. The products are packaged well, look great and seem like a great gift to give at a summer birthday party or surprise your child with on a rainy afternoon. On the back of each item is a note to let you know if a grown-up needs to help with the project or it’s totally fine for a kid to run wild with it.
One of my particular favorite kits is the Foraging Basket Kit. The set comes with a natural wicker basket and the supplies needed to decorate it so that it’s ready for a day of exploring with your child. You can paint it, add stencils to it or wrap the handle with yarn. We gave ours, pictured at the very top of the post, a coat of spray paint and some yarn decorations.
Another favorite of mine has to be the stickers. My nephews love stickers, so I try to tuck in a few sheets whenever I send them a card. The stickers have a more contemporary feel, but are still charming and cute.
If you’re looking for a weekend project for your family to enjoy, make sure to stop by your local Joann Fabric and Crafts store to see the We Made It line for yourself. Don’t forget – keep an eye on their mobile app for extra coupons and discounts to make purchasing one of these kits more affordable.
