Let your little conductor experience the magic of the locomotive at the World’s Greatest Hobby on Tour model train event at the Suburban Collection Showplace in Novi Feb. 23-24, 2019.
The event is for both beginner and expert model train enthusiasts and features seminars on developing a layout and scenery as well as maintenance of model trains, plus dozens of vendors in the hobby marketplace.
If your kids are the train lovers, check out the 50,000-square-foot showroom of operating model railroads for inspiration and then pick up a model or get your kids started on their first layout. Everything you need to start the new hobby is available at the show.
Don’t worry if you’re a train novice, as the latest how-to videos, publications and live demonstrations will be available to show you the ropes.
One of the biggest draws for children is the riding train. Kids of all ages can take a seat in a movable train and parents can take a picture of their children on the mini ride. There will also be 100 trains for kids to play with?
And for the more experienced train hobbyist? More than 200 booths and exhibitors, offering trains for sale and some with antique and rare trains you won’t find at your local hobby or toy store on display. Swap stories and model train parts with fellow collectors, too.
Looking to expand your collection? Model trains, train accessories, model vehicles that could be used on a train layout and modeling tools will all be sold at the event. Train-themed merchandise such as artwork and clothing will also be available.
The two-day event runs 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 23, and 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 24, in Halls B and at the Suburban Collection Showplace in Novi and won’t return for another five years, so don’t miss out.
Tickets are $10 on Saturday and $9 on Sunday. Tickets purchased on Saturday are good both days. Kids 15 and under are free with a paying adult. Purchase tickets on-site using cash. Parking is $5.
