Score Game Day Fun at Hockeytown Cafe

Pregame your big shows, concerts and game days at this hockey-themed bar and restaurant.

The big day is finally here! Maybe your family is headed to their first Detroit Red Wings, Pistons, Lions or Tigers game, or maybe you’re headed to an exciting live show or concert in downtown Detroit. The kids may be bursting with excitement but, let’s face it — the day of a big game, show or event can be stressful for parents.

Where do you park? Will you have time to eat before the show? How much are those stadium hot dogs going to cost a family of four?

Put those worries to rest by pre-gaming all of your downtown Detroit events at Hockeytown Cafe, an exciting hockey-themed bar and restaurant steps away from the Fox Theatre, The Fillmore Detroit, Comerica Park, Ford Field and Little Caesars Arena.

Created by Mike Ilitch, the late owner of the Detroit Red Wings, Tigers and Little Caesars Pizza, this sports-meets-motorcycle-themed bar and restaurant is packed with Wings and Tigers memorabilia that little sports fans will love. Families can enjoy tasty apps, hearty plates, Detroit-style pizza and more, including a kids meal deal.

Grown-ups can indulge in specialty cocktails with creative sports names, local drafts and a wide selection of canned cocktails, seltzers, beer and more while they kill time before their big event. Plus, you’ll find a larger drink selection (often with cheaper price tags) at Hockeytown Cafe than at the concession stand.

What’s not to love about a themed bar with a great children’s menu? In addition to the small bites on the kids menu, here are some other tasty options we love for family dining.

Kids menu

Designed just for young hockey fans, every meal on this children’s menu includes a beverage for kids ages 12 and under. Choose from pepperoni or cheese pizza, mac and cheese or chicken tenders and fries.

Apps

Hockeytown’s appetizers are perfect for feeding the entire team! Kid-friendly bites include cheesy garlic bread, baked pretzels and cheese sticks. Veggie lovers will appreciate the boiled peanut Ball Park Hummus. Also on the menu are loaded baked potatoes, beef tips and Korean pork dumplings.

Detroit-style pizza

Ordering for the entire family is easy when Detroit-style deep dish pizza is on the menu! Meat lovers can fill up on the Three Little Pigs: a pizza loaded with sausage, bacon, pepperoni and garlic butter. Go simple with a basic cheese, veggie or pepperoni pie, or order the Chicken Margherita: fresh tomato, mozzarella, basil pesto and oven-dried tomatoes on an olive oil crust.
