3D printers are hot. And now, there’s a way to make gummy candy using one right here in metro Detroit.
Katjes Magic Candy Factory recently debuted inside the Go! Games, Toys & Books store at Twelve Oaks Mall in Novi. The first to land in Michigan, this neat little machine lets kids whip up candy selfies, illustrations and even edible greeting cards.
“It’s really the only way to make your own candy,” says Melissa Snover, founder of this fast-growing UK company. “You can make chocolates but you can’t really make gummies.”
Using a tablet, customers pick their design, color, flavor and whether they want a sour, fizzy or glittery gummy. The whole process takes less than five minutes.
“It’s a great opportunity to learn about 3D printing in a fun way that keeps kids really engaged,” says Snover. It’s quick, custom – oh, and totally vegan.
“We’re always working on new innovations,” says Snover. Stay tuned for future locations arriving in Michigan this year.
