American Girl Store Coming to Metro Detroit

The popular brand is set to debut another pop-up shop at Twelve Oaks Mall in Novi.

Metro Detroit parents with an American Girl lover in the family won’t have to travel so far to shop the brand’s much-coveted specialty dolls and accessories in person, at least for a little while.

That’s because American Girl is set to open up another temporary pop-up Michigan retail store this summer at Twelve Oaks Mall in Novi.

“We do not have a confirmed date for the grand opening,” Emily Taucher, the Marketing and Sponsorship Director with Twelve Oaks says. “But we anticipate the store opening in the early summer, so most likely late June [or] early July.”

The store will be around 6000 square feet and will be located on the mall’s upper level near Nordstrom, according to Taucher. It will feature a variety of dolls, books and accessories, and will remain open through January, 2018.

The addition will likely get a warm welcome from local families, who may have traveled as far as Chicago, the closest location to metro Detroit, to shop the store, and is causing quite the stir with mall staff, too.

“I’m am most excited for the experience that is an American Girl store,” Taucher says. “American Girl is all about empowering girls and helping them reach their full potential, so every doll, every book, every message or experience is designed to empower girls and build them up.  American Girl products also inspire imaginative play and spark an interest in reading and learning.”

This is the second temporary American Girl store to open at Twelve Oaks since 2016. The first store opened in August of 2016 and stayed open through January of 2017.
