Remember the hilarious story of Elf in the 2003 film starring Will Ferrell? Well, the Broadway adaptation – starring the ever-chipper, Christmas-happy Buddy himself – ELF The Musical, hits the stage at the Fox Theatre in Detroit Nov. 20-25, 2018.
Buddy is an orphaned boy who crawls into Santa’s bag of gifts and is taken all the way to the North Pole. Due to his inevitable growth and less-than-exceptional toy-making abilities, Buddy learns the truth – and asks to be sent back home to find his birth father and true identity. In the process, he helps the people of the city remember what Christmas and the holidays are all about.
And, since it features eye-popping costumes and sets paired with original songs by Tony Award nominees Matthew Sklar and Chad Beguelin, it’s sure to have you and the kids singing along.
This modern-day holiday classic – declared “peppy” and “splashy” by the New York Times and “endearingly goofy” by USA Today – is the perfect family theater outing for the holiday season.
The 2018 show dates and times are as follows:
- Tuesday, Nov. 20: 7:30 p.m.
- Wednesday, Nov. 21: 7:30 p.m.
- Friday, Nov. 23: 2 and 7:30 p.m.
- Saturday, Nov. 24: 10 a.m. and 3 and 8 p.m.
- Sunday, Nov. 25: 2 p.m.
