Hot Mama Store at The Village of Rochester Hills

Ever try on a pair of jeans or some summer sandals and think, "Uh, nope. I look like a mom"? Translation: You think your clothes make you look dowdy, stodgy and past your prime.

Well, forget about accidentally stumbling across "mom jeans" and other articles of clothing that make you feel out of fashion. Hot Mama, a fresh store in The Village of Rochester Hills, caters to the mom who wants to keep up with trends, but has limited time for personal shopping.

Hot Mama, Inc.

Megan Tamte, the founder and CEO of Hot Mama, Inc., envisioned the contemporary chic store after her first post-baby shopping spree. Tamte says she realized moms needed a store dedicated to helping them pick out stylish clothes in an easy-to-navigate, kid-friendly environment. Tamte and her husband, Michael, opened the first Hot Mama seven years ago in Edina, Minn.

The concept has been successful. There are already 28 locations in 11 states with more planned this summer. The Hot Mama location in Rochester Hills is the first in southeast Michigan (there's also one in Grand Rapids).

"Moms are busy, and they sometimes need encouragement to do something for themselves," says Tamte. "The most important thing we offer is we really like to help women look and feel their very best."

Hot Mama in Rochester Hills, located across from The Gap, has a fun, approachable vibe. Sassy jeans, trendy tops and date night-worthy dresses for women sizes 0-14 are arranged to outfit moms easily.

Stylists are on hand to help you find clothes that best flatter your shape and size. Plus, there's a place for kids and strollers.

"We have a play area and toys for kids to keep busy while mom shops," says Anne Weber, manager of the Rochester Hills store. "We also have PlayStations set up for older kids. It's the perfect place for moms to shop."
