Magformers Toy Store in Canton for Construction-Loving Kids

This Wayne County retail shop, housed next to its headquarters, promotes STEM learning and fun for kids.

Got a construction-loving kid? Kick playtime up a notch at the new Magformers toy store. The popular magnetic building-block company, which just moved from Plymouth to Canton, opened its first retail shop right next door to its headquarters.

“We had been quietly growing in downtown Plymouth since 2013,” CEO Chris Tidwell says. “When we first opened our claim to fame was that we were on QVC, now we’re in Target, Toys R Us and thousands of specialty stores.”

But this new spot beats all the rest. It’s filled from top to bottom with colorful geometric building sets made of high-quality car-grade plastic and neodymium magnets in 33 shapes that promote STEM learning and plenty of open-ended play.

You’ll also find its three other lines, including Clicformers, with plastic blocks that click, stack and fold; Tile Blox, featuring solid magnetic shapes; and Dolce plush creatures for kids 3 months and up.

Watch for special family days and fun challenges, like building a sphere as fast as you can. Plus, there are play tables set up so kids can try before mom and dad buy.

“The hands-on part of our toys is so critical,” Tidwell says. “Parents can bring their kids in to play at any time.”

Magformers is located at 44125 Ford Road in Canton and is open 10 a.m.-5:30 p.m. Monday-Saturday. Complete sets start at $24.99.
