Thelonius Monster’s Sky-High Fly Pie
For the past 10 years I’ve been editor of Metro Parent, at least 10,000 children’s books have crossed my desk. This one by Judy Sierra stands out. A gloriously gross rhyming story about a monster who bakes a fly-pie, it begs to be read aloud. It has a great message about making the most of monstrous mishaps (#kitchenfail). Plus, the simple drawings by The New Yorker cartoonist Edward Koren add a touch of charm to the sweetly stomach-churning story.
