Pinkalicious The Musical at City Theatre in Detroit

It’s time to think pink – and lots of it! Victoria and Elizabeth Kann’s Pinkalicious children’s books series is coming to audiences with Pinkalicious the Musical at the City Theatre in Detroit April 28-30, 2017.

Pinkalicious Pinkerton is a little girl who loves pink cupcakes, but her story tells observers that sometimes too much of a sweet thing isn’t all that great. Pinkalicious explores the dangers of too much sugar and what happens when she goes overboard gorging on her favorite treats.

All those sayings about moderation and balance aren’t for nothing, after all. That’s a lesson that Pinkalicious finds out the hard way when she wakes up with pink hair, pink skin and pink clothes. It’s a bad case of pinkititis, from her head to down to her toes!

Now it’s up to show-goers to watch and discover how her loved ones help get Pinkalicious back to normal.

Pinkalicious takes audiences on a journey of learning about the importance of family and the show will teach young viewers about the virtues of healthy living and moderation.

Crowds should be prepared to sing and dance along to the musical adventures of Pinkalicious. The production will run for approximately 50 minutes, so be mindful if your little ones have a tendency to get fussy. The City Theatre says the show is best suited for cupcake-loving audiences ages 3 and older.

Ticket prices start at $54 per guest and can be purchased here. Audiences are highly encouraged to join in on the fun by showing up wearing their favorite pink get-ups.

Showtimes are as follows:

  • 6:30 p.m. on Friday, April 28
  • 11 a.m., 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. on Saturday, April 29
  • 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Sunday, April 30

Families who attend are certainly in for a sweet treat. Despite its name, Pinkalicious isn’t simply a story tinted by rose-colored glasses. It remains true to its readers and delivers authentic lessons about excess, health, caring and unconditional love in a fun and engaging way.
