Kid-Friendly Coffee Shops in Metro Detroit and Ann Arbor

Looking to get your caffeine fix, but also want to keep the kids entertained? Try one of these local shops in southeast Michigan.

Need a place you and your kids can spend time together and you can get a little pick-me-up, too? Check out these local coffee shops that are great for the whole family.

Kids will enjoy feeling like a grown-up and getting a “coffee” while everyone can enjoy a laid back and fun atmosphere. There are also many places that serve ice cream and other sweets that kids are sure to love.

– 320° Coffee & Creamery 

Kids will enjoy the nitrogen ice cream, which is smoother and creamier than regular ice cream. Flavors include double stuffed chocolate Oreo, cold brew ice cream, blueberry white chocolate, chai tea ice cream, mango Tajin and berry berry. Parents can get a caffeine fix with brewed coffee, mochas, cortados, lattes, cappuccinos and more.

Birmingham Roast & Royal Oak Roast

Kids can enjoy a hot chocolate or many different frozen drinks like an Oreo milkshake, mango smoothie, classic milkshake, Almond Joy frappe and more. Parents can enjoy their choice of signature brews, hot drinks and cold drinks. It also has food options for breakfast and lunch.

Choco Mania Café

This European coffee place offers Turkish/Arabic coffee, cappuccinos, americanos and many different lattes. It also has plenty of food and dessert options that your family is sure to enjoy, including French crepes, Turkish baklava, homemade ice cream, rolled ice cream and French pastries. Not to miss are the milkshake options, bubble teas and frappes for the non-coffee drinkers.

Donut Bar + Coffee 

Head to this coffee and dessert place and try the specialty doughnuts that rotate daily. You’ll find something you like among the 50-plus flavors it offers. It also has shakes and ice cream. Drink options are cold brew, Frappuccino, latte, coffee, black iced tea, cappuccino, mango smoothie and strawberry-banana smoothie.

Drifter Coffee

This two-story coffee shop features a café, quiet area and greenhouse. It offers specific beverages for littles including, “Choco Milk,” “’Nilla Steamer,” “Cherry Sweet Tea” and “Lil’ Cocoa.” Also, offers gluten-friendly and vegan options.

Drip House Coffee Co

Stop into this coffee house on a day out with your kids for some breakfast, lunch or just a coffee. It offers drip coffee, Nitro cold brew coffee, flavored lattes and smoothies for the kiddos.

Eat Well Café

Enjoy a coffee, sweet treats, breakfast options and lunch options. Here, you can round up your change to help the less fortunate locally or globally. It has a kids food menu for ages 12 and under that includes a Bagel “Rip-N-Dip,” Grill Cheese-N-Bacon sandwich and Ham-N-Cheese sandwich. Also, free Wi-Fi is a plus.

EOS Café

The menu has food options for kids including mac n cheese, quesadillas, wraps, grilled cheese, ham and cheese sandwich and turkey and cheese sandwich. Kids will love the smoothies and specialty drinks like caramel apple, Oreo and Reese. There are plenty of baked goods and desserts, too.

Farmhouse Coffee and Ice Cream

Families can head here for hot chocolate, tea, coffee, pastries, sandwiches and of course, ice cream. It offers its own Farmhouse brand coffee that is ground and brewed fresh throughout the day along with plenty of non-coffee drinks like French sodas and real fruit smoothies. It serves 20-plus Michigan made ice cream flavors from local dairies, including Guernsey Farms.

Jungle Java 

A perfect mix of a jungle themed play place for the kids and coffee drinks for the parents. It offers a full coffee bar with specialty drinks like Turtle Mocha, Pure Heaven, Mochaccino, Snickers, plus slushies, smoothies, juices and hot chocolate for the kiddos. Admission costs vary by location.

Karma Coffee and Kitchen

Head here for the Karma Fries – Chicken Bacon Ranch Fries or Korean BBQ Beef Fries. Kids can enjoy a Faygo pop or smoothie while parents can enjoy drip coffee, cowboy coffee, cappuccino, chai, mocha, latte, iced coffee and much more.

Michigan Coffee + Creamery 

This spot serves Great Lakes Coffee and Browndog Creamery ice cream in 15-plus flavors. Enjoy free Wi-Fi here with plenty of outlets. It offers specialty lattes like vanilla, chai, mocha and lavender lattes. Kids can enjoy a root beer or orange cream soda.

MoonWinks Café 

This spot features Michigan-made companies including Hyperion Coffee, Ann Arbor’s Barry Bagels, fresh baked Wallace Scones, EK Cheesecakes and rotating flavors of Guernsey Ice Cream. It has milkshakes, smoothies and frappes, too.

PappaRoti

This shop is well known for the coffee buns, which has flavors like Nuts for Nutella and Berries Delight. They also have milkshakes, smoothies, yogurt smoothies and pappauccinos along with their coffee beverages.

Peaberry Bean & Beats Café

This coffee shop for free Wi-Fi, baked goods, homemade soups, coffee, lattes and cold drinks. Kids will enjoy the Wildberry, Peach and Strawberry Banana smoothies along with the Italian soda, French soda and Faygo Pop. You can even stop in for lunch or breakfast, which is served all day.

The Proving Grounds Coffee & Ice Cream

This is the perfect spot for parents to bring their kids. Parents can enjoy in-house roasted coffee with homemade syrups and their kids can enjoy a scoop of artisan ice cream from Browndog Creamery. It also has milkshakes and affogatos.

Trail’s Edge Café

The coffee house has many unique signature lattes such as Sakura Café Latte, Flower Power Café Latte, Betty White Café Latte, Michigan Maple Café Latte and much more. For the kiddos, they can enjoy milk, chocolate milk, strawberry milk, classic hot chocolate or white hot chocolate.
