Movie in the Park Events in Metro Detroit and Ann Arbor

Movie in the park events are a fun family outing for all ages. Here are some happenings in metro Detroit and Ann Arbor for summer 2022.

Looking for something fun the whole family can enjoy together this summer? Check out one of the many parks in southeast Michigan that are offering outdoor family-friendly movies this summer.

Bring a chair or blanket, snacks and drinks to watch a flick on the big screen. These outdoor events offer fun for everyone. Plus, some even have music and other fun activities for kids before the movie begins.

Check ahead to see if you need to register and follow social distancing protocols, if necessary.


Movies in the Park at Walter and Mary Burke Park

June 30, July 28 and Aug. 25, 2022

Families can enjoy a story and a movie in the park, brought to you by MacDonald Public Library. Concessions and a food truck will be on site.

Movies in the Park at Brandenburg Park 

July 5-26, 2022 (Tuesdays)

Families can bring a chair, or a blanket, and some snacks to see a film in the park. Luca plays July 5, Ponyo plays July 12, Dolphin Tale plays July 19 and Raya and the Last Dragon plays July 26. 

Music and Movies in the Park

July 13, 20 and 27, 2022

Head to the Civic Center to enjoy pre-show activities, music and an outdoor family-friendly film. July 13 features Weekend Comback and Sing 2. July 20 is Room 13 and The Mitchell’s vs. the Machines. July 27 is Collision Six and Encanto.

Movie Under the Stars at Macomb Corners Park

Aug. 5, 2022

Come for a family-friendly movie, inflatables, games and more at the summertime event at Macomb Corners Park. Free glow-bracelets and a family-friendly bug spray station will be provided at dusk.

Movies in the Park at Stony Creek Metropark

Aug. 20 and Sept. 3 and 17, 2022

Families can enjoy a drive-in style movie night at Stony Creek Metropark. Bring your own food and drinks, and Encanto on Aug. 20, Jungle Cruise on Sept. 3 and Spider-Man: No Way Home on Sept. 17.


Outdoor Movie Night at Booth Park 

June 10, July 15, Aug. 12 and Sept. 16, 2022

Birmingham’s popular outdoor Movie Night series returns to Booth Park on select Friday nights this summer. June 10 features Sing 2, July 15 features Home Alone, Aug. 12 features Moana and Sept. 16 features Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory.

Moviepalooza at Pierce Middle School Football Field 

June 17, 2022

Grab blankets, or lawn chairs, and head to a family movie night at Pierce Middle School. There will also be inflatables, arts and crafts, a rock-climbing wall, concessions and other interactive activities.

Movie Night Under the Stars at the Jeanne M. Stine Community Park 

June 22, July 6, July 20, Aug. 3 and Aug. 17, 2022

Bring the family, lawn chairs or blankets and relax with as a variety of family-friendly movies will be shown at sunset. June 22 is Sing 2, July 6 is Luca, July 20 is American Underdog — The Kurt Warner Story, Aug. 3 is Mitchells vs. The Machine and Aug. 17 is Encanto. 

Movies in the Park at Central Park 

Aug. 3, 17 and 24, 2022

Families enjoy a movie in Central Park on various Wednesdays in August. Aug. 3 is Encanto, Aug. 17 is Raya and the Last Dragon. Aug. 24 is Scoob!

Movies in the Park at Kensington Metropark 

Aug. 5 and 19, 2022

Make sure to bring blankets, chairs, snacks, drinks and picnic dinner for a showing of Sing 2 on Aug. 5 and Spider-Man: No Way Home on Aug. 19.


Movie in the Park at Mill Pond Park

June 4, 2022

Families can come to Mill Pond Park to see Encanto. There will also be children’s activities, music, concessions and more. Bring a blanket or chair.


Friday Night Movies at New Center Park

June 3-Aug. 26, 2022 (Fridays)

Visitors can grab a chair or bring a blanket, enjoy some free popcorn and settle in for a film in the open-air theater. June 3 is Encanto, June 10 is Luca, June 17 is Respect, June 24 is Sing 2, July 1 is Shaun the Sheep, July 8 is The Mitchells vs. The Machines, July 15 is Ghostbusters — Afterlife, July 22 is Jungle Cruise, July 29 is Tangled, Aug. 5 is Cruella, Aug. 12 is In the Heights, Aug. 19 is Spider Man — No Way Home and Aug. 26 is The Batman.

Movies in the Park at Wagner Park 

June 3, July 29, Aug. 12 and Sept. 9, 2022 

Bring your own chair or blanket. Luca plays June 3, Encanto plays July 29, Spiderman: No Way Home plays Aug. 12 and Mitchells vs the Machines plays Sept. 9.

Movie Nights in the D

June 9, 16, 23, 30, July 7, 14, 21, 28, Aug. 4, 11, 18 and 25, 2022

Head downtown to see a movie with your friends or family. Kids movies take place on June 23 (Minions), July 14 (Encanto), Aug. 11 (The Wizard of Oz) and Aug. 25 (Remember the Titans).

Family Movie Camp Out 

July 15-16, 2022 

Families can enjoy RV or tent camping with a movie at dusk. Games, activities and entertainment will take place before the movie and dinner and concessions will be sold that night. The following day, there will be breakfast for sale. Pre-registration is required.

Movies in the Park at City Hall Park in Dearborn 

July 15 and Sept 2, 2022

Bring a lawn chair or blanket to enjoy a movie at city hall. Movie begins at dusk. July 15 is Ford v Ferrari and Clifford the Big Red Dog is on Sept. 2.

Movies in the Moonlight 

July 16, 23, 30 and Aug. 6, 2022

Arrive for pre-show activities and then watch movies as a family at Movies in the Moonlight. The movies are located in the parking lot at the corner of East Third and Water, one block east of Main. Featured movies begin at dusk (about 9:15 p.m.) and pre-shows start at 8:30 p.m. Bring your own chairs.

Movies in the Parks at Willow Metropark

Aug. 13 and 27, 2022

Families can enjoy a movie night at Willow Metropark. Make sure to bring blankets, chairs, snacks, drinks and picnic dinner. Encanto is on Aug. 13 and Space Jam: A New Legacy is on Aug. 27.
