Each summer, Campus Martius Park transforms into a tropical escape with The Beach—an urban oasis right in the heart of the city. And this year, Metro Detroit families can look forward to even more fun, thanks to exciting new upgrades coming to this beloved downtown destination.

What is ‘The Beach’ at Campus Martius Park?

In the center of Downtown Detroit, The Beach features 400,000 pounds of soft sand and colorful lounge chairs perfect for a summer day under the sun. Families can enjoy building sandcastles, listening to live music and sipping a drink.

The Beach is open from June through October at Campus Martius Park, and this year’s refreshed layout offers even more space for metro Detroit kids to play, dig, and explore. Be sure to add it to your summer bucket list—especially while you’re downtown enjoying other great events from the Downtown Detroit Partnership!

What’s new at ‘The Beach’ — Cabana 313

This summer, The Beach at Campus Martius Park has a stylish new addition: Cabana 313. The two-story, open-air hangout (inspired by the popular wintertime Chalet 313) offers a warm-weather version brings breezy beach vibes and sweeping views of Downtown Detroit.

Cabana 313 features comfortable lounge seating and dining tables, creating a perfect spot for everything from family outings to relaxing with friends. And don’t miss BrisaBar at Cabana 313, operated by the award-winning team behind Parc. Open daily from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., BrisaBar serves up fresh, elevated bites and signature drinks in a relaxed, beachy atmosphere.
