Lesson 4: 3D Constellations

Date: Aug. 3, 2018

Welcome to Lesson 4 of the Virtual Camp from Metro Parent and Michigan Science Center!

The summer night sky is a magical sight. But there’s lots of science behind those twinkling stars – and perspective! Find out why, here on Earth, we can see constellations like the Big Dipper by creating a mini star model. Start by watching the video to see how the project comes together (it really helps to see this one in action). Then, scroll down and grab your free guide for the complete how-to, plus out-of-this-world trivia and extra resources. Last but not least, take the quiz to score great prizes. Remember to snap pix of all the fun you’re having and post to Instagram with the hashtag #MPcamp for a chance at winning a $25 Amazon gift card, too!

1. Watch the experiment.

2. Download your free guide.Make a miniature model of a constellation and find out more about stars and astronomy.

3. Take the quiz. Test your science smarts. Take one quiz to win a free general-admission pass to the Michigan Science Center (good Aug. 19-Dec. 31, 2018). And one lucky kid will win $1,000 for college!
