Cinco de Mayo Parade and Festival in Detroit

The annual Cinco de Mayo Parade and Festival in Detroit offers authentic food, music and more traditional fun May 4-5, 2019.

Cinco de Mayo is a huge holiday – and no one does the fiesta better than our own Southwest Detroit. Head down to celebrate the Mexican victory over the French empire during the annual Cinco de Mayo Parade and Festival in Detroit May 4-5, 2019.

This annual event, which is presented by the Mexican Patriotic Committee of Metro Detroit, kicks off with a festival full of vendors and artists on 21st Street, across from the Ford Research and Engagement Center.

Listen to authentic Mexican music by Banda Del Carro Roja, Pancho Villa’s Skull and many others as you shop the beautifully crafted artwork for sale – and taste-test some delicious ethnic eats.

There will be face painting and crafts for los niños, too.

Return the next day at noon for the Sunday parade. It steps off at Vernor and Central avenues and follows Vernor to 23rd Street. Line up early for a display of Mexican music, dance performances and more.

Afterwards, return to 21st Street to continue with the festivities.

The annual Cinco de Mayo Parade and Festival in Detroit runs noon-7 p.m. both Saturday, May 4, and Sunday, May 5, 2019. Admission is free and open to the public.
