How to Make Pony Bead Valentine Hearts

Looking for crafts to do with pony beads? Look no further than this cute Valentine-themed project.

If there are just two craft supplies you should have in your child’s craft stash at all times, pipe cleaners and pony beads in a rainbow of colors could be it! With those pieces you’re ready to make an assortment of fun projects, from jewelry to wacky animal creations. And Valentine’s Day is no different. With just those two supplies your child can create a stack of love-worthy pony bead heart sculptures.

Materials

  • Pipe cleaners
  • Pony beads in Valentine-themed colors

Instructions

Start your heart creation by bending a pipe cleaner in half. On each end begin threading your pony beads. Add 21 beads to each side.

Next, twist the exposed ends of the pipe cleaner together several times to secure the beads. Wrap any remaining wire around the twisted end.

It’s time to shape your heart. Pull the top down into the center to create the heart look. You can make manipulate it to make it look skinny, big or any shape you like.

Finished hearts could be added to a piece of ribbon to make a necklace, tied onto garland, hung in windows or even slipped over a wrist for a cute bracelet.
