Ann Arbor Art Fair in Downtown Ann Arbor

The Ann Arbor Art Fair kicks off July 18-21, 2019, in Tree Town with a mix of diverse artists, artwork and family fun at four fairs in one.

Summer in southeast Michigan wouldn’t be complete without a visit to at least one Michigan art fair, but how about four in one weekend?

From July 18-21, 2019, the city of Ann Arbor hosts its annual street art fairs – and all four have a distinct personality and feature fun for the family.

The Original Ann Arbor Street Fair

There’s “The Original” Ann Arbor Street Fair, which will showcase  the clay, jewelry, glass, digital, drawing and printmaking pieces from more than 200 artists. Plus, live demos, music and performances.

Kids can get in on the art fun, too, at the Art Activity Zone on Ingalls Mall (11 a.m.-6 p.m. Thursday-Saturday, noon-6 p.m. Sunday).

It’s free and open to kids of any age. Kids can make a number of crafts, like simple adornments, murals, pinch pots and more.

Location: Find this fair at North University Avenue, East Washington Street and down Ingalls Mall.

State Street Art Fair

The annual State Street Art Fair will be happening in downtown Ann Arbor, too, featuring more than 250 artists working in a variety of mediums including wood, ceramics, leather, jewelry, photography and more.

Location: This one weaves around the streets a bit. It rounds down East Liberty (just past Division Street to State Street), part of Thompson, down Maynard (from East Liberty to East Jefferson).

Ann Arbor Summer Art Fair

Then, make your way to The Guild’s Ann Arbor Summer Art Fair, with a whopping 375 artists.

On the corner of Main Street and William, musicians and poets perform on The Stage on Main nightly.

Location: This fair takes place partially on State Street from E. Madison to E. William and jumps over a few blocks to South Main Street (East Huron to W. William) as well as East Liberty from Ashley to Fifth Street.

Ann Arbor’s South University Art Fair

And the final of the four art fairs is the Ann Arbor’s South University Art Fair, known as a fine arts and crafts fair.

Find a ton of mediums represented here, from mixed media 2D and 3D, metal, jewelry, painting, glass, fiber and more from international and local artists.

There will be free live music at the main stage, a beer and wine garden on South Church Street – and don’t forget the official souvenirs!

Location: Runs down S. University from State Street to Forest, down East University until Willard, down Church until Willard.

Plan your visit

Admission to all four fairs is free, and all run 10 a.m.-9 p.m. Thursday-Saturday, noon-6 p.m. Sunday.

Shuttles will be available, taking off from Briarwood Mall and Huron High School (additional fees apply; get schedule and cost info here).

There’s also mini buses that link the fairs and plenty of parking the city’s structures and lots.
