With seven locations throughout the metro Detroit area, Waltonwood Senior Living communities provide an active lifestyle and exceptional care to seniors through independent living, licensed assisted living and memory care.

"Our communities give families the opportunity to enjoy their time together and help relieve the stress that can come with caregiving," says Christian Miller, marketing manager for Waltonwood communities.

As a family-owned senior living provider since 1989, Waltonwood understands that strong connections and a greater sense of community are pivotal elements of each resident's well being.

Miller calls the senior living communities "resort-style" with exemplary amenities and programs that empower the mind, body and spirit.

Residents are encouraged to take part in a number of programs and social gatherings offered within the Waltonwood communities.

Waltonwood's Life Enrichment Program encourages personal growth and the pursuit of a purposeful life. It includes educational classes, seminars, trips, gardening projects, games, entertainment, cultural events and much more. Portions of this program are also supported by a partnership with the Institute of Gerontology at Wayne State University.

Many residents lead their own clubs or committees, and some even represent the overall Waltonwood community as members of the Resident Council.

Waltonwood's hobby rooms provide an opportunity for residents to learn new skills, rediscover past interests and enjoy time with friends.

The Forever Fit program, which is offered at all of the communities, is run by Forever Fit coordinators who hold classes and personal training sessions that combine strength, endurance, balance, coordination, and flexibility exercises in a safe and enjoyable setting. Exercises are done on equipment that is specifically designed for seniors.

Dining at Waltonwood is a culinary experience. Every member of the culinary team is dedicated to creating spectacular meals that not only meet residents' needs but also stimulate their palates.

"Meals are prepared with the highest quality ingredients, and we work to create seasonal menus that will suit each residents needs without sacrificing taste or variety," Miller says.

Each community has its own in-house pastry chef and a bistro for additional dining options and socialization. They have also introduced chef action stations that bring the kitchen out to the residents. This allows the culinary teams to interact with residents and provide fun and informative cooking demonstrations.

While the Waltonwood communities offer a lot of on-site services, residents who need to go off-site for any reason have a unique way to get to their destination. Miller says if the seniors need to get somewhere, they have a service and someone will drive them where they need to go Ñ in a Cadillac.

Depending on the community, residents can choose from private studio, one- and two-bedroom apartments with access to an array of community amenities. Should the residents need a different level of care during their stay, Waltonwood can adapt to their changing needs.
