Free Train Rides Roll Back into Metro Detroit with Great Lakes Live Steamers

All aboard! Free miniature train rides through local parks delight kids and adults. Weather permitting. Donations welcome.

Train lovers will enjoy riding on the miniature train throughout the parks. Great Lakes Live Steamers is a volunteer-operated club that runs trains on their permanent tracks.

For the trains to run, the weather must be 50 degrees or above and no rain. If you would like to check if the trains are running on the day of the event, call 313-355-9826 after 11:30 a.m.

Dates for the train are subject to change without notice.

  • Addresses: Starr Jaycee Park, 1321 W. 13 Mile Road, Royal Oak; Southgate Train Park, 13901 Leroy St., Southgate
  • Hours: Noon-4 p.m.
  • Cost: Free; donations are accepted and appreciated. Donations are used to help maintain the trains and tracks.
