A walkable downtown and lots of family-friendly activities make Northville a great choice for your next family outing. Fun fact: Did you know that Northville is in two counties, Wayne and Oakland? (It has two parts — the city and the township.) Check out the city center, Northville Square, with plenty of shops and places to dine outdoors. Historic buildings add to the scenic charm of this town — a must for your summer bucket list or staycation itinerary!

How to get there: Downtown Northville can be accessed off M-14 and I-96 both running east and west, or I-275 running north and south.

Browndog Barlor and Restaurant

Head over to Browndog for brunch, dinner or what they are originally known for… ice cream! Bonus for grown-ups: boozy shakes and adult drink pouches, just a couple of the fun cocktail options available.

Tuscan Cafe

Stop by bright and early for your morning coffee and enjoy breakfast, or pick-up some gourmet sandwiches for lunch made on fresh Zingerman’s bread. You can even order online and your sandwich will be ready and boxed up for you when you get there.

When you fancy classic American grill style fare for dinner, head to the Garage! The eatery is set in what was originally an old gas station right in the heart of downtown. Brunch is served on weekends.

Serving breakfast, lunch and dinner, Rebecca’s features several options on the kids’ menu. Remember to save room for dessert! The Brownie Hot Fudge Sundae is topped with Sanders Hot Fudge.

This inclusive artist market and gift shop has a unique mission providing employment training for adults with autism or related challenges. Almost half of the featured artists are individuals with special needs.

This consignment shop sells newborn through junior items — including clothing, toys and books for kids. Located right in downtown Northville, with a selection that is always changing, you never know what you will find.

Stemville

At Stemville, kids get to be creative and use their imaginations, nurturing interest in STEM-based activities and having fun. With so much to explore, the possibilities are endless for what they can learn through their creativity. Stemville offers open play, private parties and other programs. Reservations are required, so call ahead.

Ford Field Park

This perfect park is located within walking distance of the city center, next to Mill Race Village and along the Middle Rouge River. Run and play after grabbing a bite in town, or bring it over for a picnic in the park.

Northville Art House

The Northville Art House cultivates the arts in the community through exhibitions, programs and various other events. Admission is free and open to the public. Check out the gallery’s website for current safety guidelines. Also keep an eye out for art around town, including 50 fairy doors from all over the world.

Maybury State Park

Address: 49601 Eight Mile Road, Northville

One of the few state parks serving the metro Detroit area, Maybury makes the perfect destination for a day trip with nearly 1,000 acres to explore. The park features an extensive trail system for biking,hiking, horseback riding and more nature activities for the whole family.
