Application Steps
- Fill out an application online. Applications are due on Aug. 1 of your senior year. Students can apply through the CMU portal or the Common App.
- Send in your transcripts. Send CMU’s Admissions Office your official high school or college transcripts. Also, you have the option to give your test scores. CMU will not require tests until Fall 2025, but the middle 50% of accepted students score between 960 and 1210 on the SAT or 21 and 27 on the ACT.
- Complete the FAFSA by May 1 to maximize your financial aid.
- Once you’re in, pay your enrollment deposit to hold your spot, and then set up your housing, registration and online student financial details.
- You will receive information about orientation and housing. New students will start getting assigned housing and going to orientation in late spring and early summer.
Financial aid timeline and information
FAFSA priority deadline is May 1, and the following is how the disbursement works:
- Letters of Award Sent: After the completion of the FAFSA is processed, in the middle of May
- Loan Disbursement: About 10 days prior to the start of the semester, once all the criteria are met
- Scholarship Consideration: Merit scholarships are automatically looked at when you apply
Estimated Costs: About $15,420 for in-state tuition, $12,600 for living expenses and meals, and $28,000 for the year total.
